Can't get tools to do the job...make your own.

I really want to do my part to keep a low carbon footprint and save the plant. It gets really demoralizing when working at places where they just throw things in the trash.

One of the hardest parts is corporations want profit. They flip product out for consumers and don't consider the literal Global Warming affect of their products energy waste.

Today, I went through the design of a product. It is 62% efficient wasting 18.6W that is dissipated as heat. Multiply that buy how many have sold and will be sold....etc. That wasted electricity had to be generated just to be wasted.

The result of my redesign for one part of the circuit, I reduced the waste by 90%. The savings with redoing other parts of the circuit....12W....so that 18.6W waste will drop to 6.6W....that will make the system go from 62% up to 87% efficient.

The Super Stable Power Supply is coming along. As the PCB layout is moving forward so does the mechanical. As you can see, the mechanical layout is a little behind the PCB layout, but both are moving forward. There are still some subtle changes happening on the circuit, so it is okay that the mechanical lag behind for now. There are 7 pages of schematic to stay on top of.

More fun design work. The client's design had several issues/flaws. They didn't have an electronics background, but desperately wanted people thinking they had one. They just wanted a PCB based on their design. They were having issues with noise, stability, and saturation (which didn't make sense to move forward on a design that isn't working). Over the course of a week, I talked with the client pointing to some subtle "background" issues causing havoc. They let me make some changes but not others. After the first came PCB came back and was populated, it was still saturating. They finally asked for help. I pointed out and we went over a critical thing called Ohm's Law. It took all of one resistor change from 1.8M to 10k. Now they are super happy with a working circuit.

Designed a power supply that is so clean, new test/measurement has to be designed to measure it. With all those ugly wires, prototype is stable within +/-15uA.
I’m excited!

Amazing and fun things happening in the world of science. Developing probes made of Platinum, Developing circuit boards the size of large motherboards the control 3-axis stages, data collection for digital/quadrature encoders, value control and other features. Pretty cool things!!!
