Happy Mothers Day! I’ve been quite on here lately as I’m gearing up for surgery but all who mother are celebrated today and every day. You can be an aunt, a person who has no children but take care of others’ children, you can be a mother in the traditional sense or have fur babies. Happy Mother’s Day.

Just a little reminder of what happens behind the scenes to bring your photographs to life. Every print that leaves my studio is hand-signed and carefully prepared for framing—because your memories deserve that extra touch.

Even though I’ve been a bit quiet while navigating a hip injury and waiting for surgery, I’m still here and am excited and honored to eventually be part of telling your story again. Thank you for being on this journey with me. 💛

I cannot stop thinking about Tahlequah, the mother orca who, in 2018, carried her deceased calf for 17 days and over 1,000 miles 🐋💔. She is swimming in the cold waters around the island where I live. She is a neighbor this time of year. Sadly, she tragically lost another calf on New Year's Eve and has been seen once again carrying her baby's body—a heartbreaking testament to her enduring grief.

As a mother, witnessing Tahlequah's profound sorrow resonates deeply. 💔 Many women endure multiple losses on their journey to motherhood, and the holiday season 🎄✨ can be particularly difficult for those grieving loved ones.

New Years is an auspicious time of the year for a goal setter like myself. ✨ I spend hours writing letters 💌 to be opened in a year, thinking of the themes I want to embrace. I never have resolutions. I prefer to choose a word or theme for the year. 🌟

I have had a busy 2024 with lots of change 🌱 and a few challenging health issues. 🙏 As we move into 2025, here are a couple of questions I am answering for myself:

1️⃣ What kind of person do I want to become by the end of 2025? 🕊️
2️⃣ What three habits can I start practicing that will make the biggest positive impact in my life? 🌈
3️⃣ What's a skill or knowledge area that I have been avoiding but need to master in 2025? 💡
4️⃣ What were my biggest lessons from 2024 and how can I apply them? 📖
5️⃣ Who do I spend the most time with, and are they helping me grow 🎯 or holding me back?
6️⃣ How will I define success in 2025, and is it aligned with my values? 🕰️

"Light Church"
There’s a special kind of magic in the way natural light dances with the world around us, and I believe it’s one of the most powerful elements in capturing meaningful moments. ✨ Whether it’s the golden hour glow or the soft, diffused light of a cloudy day, I’m always seeking the perfect interplay between light and emotion to tell a story. 📸 These are the moments that feel almost like a sacred pause in time—a connection between the world, the subject, and the light itself. 🌞🌿 When we photograph outside, we invite the magic in.

Cold fall mornings at my favorite beach on the island I call home 🐾🍂. Edison stands at the edge, soaking it all in–the waves, the smells, the crabs – waiting to see what I am going to do. This photo was taken right before I did a cold plunge 🌊❄️, a practice that keeps me grounded and sane. Eddie rarely joins me in the water because it is too cold, but capturing moments like these remind me that my true religion to connect with nature, find peace in the stillness, and appreciate the beauty of the everyday. 🐕💙

Behind the Scenes: Did you know that I personally inspect all your photographs? 🧐 When we frame your images, I inspect them again after they are matted, and then I sign the mats ✍️. I’m old school 🕰️ and take the time because I want it to be perfect. 💖 "
