Happening at the Cascade PBS Ideas Festival, Steve Philips, host of “Democracy in Color,” will lead a conversation with author Ibram X. Kendi discussing his book "Chain of Ideas: The Origins of Our Authoritarian Age." Kendi’s book explores the history of how the “great replacement theory” became an engine of our authoritarian age. Researchers say Americans are feeling more lonely and disconnected.

A survey last year by the American Psychological Association, found that about 6 out of 10 adults reported those feelings. In that report – half of adults said they felt isolated, and the other 50% said they felt left out or lacked companionship often, or some of the time.

To understand how that is manifesting in the Seattle-Metro area – we went inside a community building event in White Center to see how people navigate through loneliness.
