what’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you because of your amputation?
I have tons of these stories and am sharing 3 today. My family has told me some from when I was a kid and embarrassed them 😆

You can try prosthetics before you buy them. I honestly did not know this! I thought you had to do your research & make an educated guess and hope for the best. now I feel confident that I made the best decision for me by trying several feet before landing on this one!
I have a YouTube video where I talk more in depth about this experience. If you want to learn more i have it linked in the comments 💬

are you guilty of any of these?

I tend to vault when I walk. It’s a habit I picked up when I was little and didn’t trust my gait. I was worried my fake foot wouldn’t clear the ground when I walked so I’d hike myself up with a calf raise to ensure it would.
these gait issues are typically noticed by others and not by you. I exaggerated them in this video to display them clearly but I had no idea I was vaulting. My dad would tell me to stop avoiding my prosthesis. He pointed out to me what I was doing wrong at a very young age. I’m so glad he did because I didn’t even realize I was doing it. I still do it from time to time when I’m tired.

Every activity as an amputee takes a lot of thought. How can I adapt that so it works for me? Will I be able to walk that far? Will I have the strength to complete that?

I am sharing what I do in the gym so I can live an independent lifestyle as an amputee 💗

INSECURE

My body is riddled with scars - beyond the obvious prosthesis. I’ve always been much smaller than my peers. My hair is big & curly and growing up all the girls wore their hair straight.

This isn’t unique to amputees, though. I think many people nitpick their body and choose to see things in a negative light.

If I saw another girl posing like this on the beach I’d view her as strong. I’d probably be jealous of her full hair. I’d think she had all the confidence in the world.

Think about how you view yourself. Would you talk to someone else the way you speak to yourself?
