There are moments in life when things happen that make you pause and reflect—when you ask yourself, “ How did I get here?
I am deeply honored and humbled to be inducted into this year’s Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame. Earshot Jazz has been such an important part of this community—and a meaningful part of my journey within it. This is an award I hold in the highest regard, and the artists who came before me in this city laid the foundation I now get to live with, sing, dance, and tell stories through.
So I had to sit with it and ask, how did this happen? I could easily point to many reasons or shine a light on all the steps along the way—but what I’ve learned is that sometimes, you don’t explain… You simply receive.
As someone who is often seen as an extrovert, there are moments—especially for those who know me well—when I turn inward. This is one of those moments. A moment to accept this honor with grace, and to hold it only as long as I can share it—because it has never been just about me. It’s about lifting others, sharing the spotlight, and amplifying voices that deserve to be heard.
I am so grateful for this beautiful community—for every trial and every triumph that has shaped me into who I am today. Thank you, Seattle, for being exactly what a Seattle audience is known for—rolling with the punches, embracing my imperfections, and allowing me the space to grow, learn, and evolve.
As a self-matriculated musician, this moment holds a depth of meaning that’s hard to put into words. Receiving an honor like this is both humbling and powerful… and I carry it with deep gratitude.
Thank you,
Jacqueline

Thank you to my bandmates who make me laugh, learn and discover things …. That’s another story and maintained a safe space for me to exhale last night. I made a promise to sing a song to honor a beautiful human, this has opened my heart and allowed me to be vulnerable in front of everyone. It’s been cathartic, terrifying and beautiful. Thank you to Seattle Jazz Fellowship for the support and to our community we thank you and need you!
