Registration for SIYAP is now open!

Over the course of two weeks, students ages 10-19 collaborate with Native theatre professionals to create an original showcase performance to share with families and community.

Weaving together traditional Indigenous performance elements with contemporary theatre, students get the chance to choose how to be storytellers and how to participate in the creative process.

All of our programming is completely free! Register now: https://tinyurl.com/yu27e84c

Our Red Eagle Soaring youth are honored to participate in this historic event! RES youth will participate in battlefield activities and education, open the Opening Night Remembrance & Celebration, then have a film they created screen as part of the festival's 22 overall films! For those who can't make it to Billings, the festival will be livestreamed @ Smoke Signal Studio, . The festival honors the Allied Tribes' victory over Custer - the Cheyenne, Lakota & Arapaho - & the resilience of the last 150 years. By centering these stories, LBHFF hopes to boost Native pride, fostering accurate education about this critical event in history & the Allied Tribes’ on-going survival. Follow our journey to Montana!

Facts 💯

As part of a series on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Indian Country Today explores how the Haudenosaunee Confederacy showed American colonizers an example of a thriving democracy, in which distinct communities could remain sovereign, yet still be united under one government.

It is an example that played a critical role in the development of the U.S. Constitution and democratic framework. At the same time, there are still lessons that should be learned from the Haudenosaunee people, including those surrounding environmental issues and global Indigenous rights.
