I’m beyond thrilled to welcome Thomas Verellen to Seattle for the Seattle Design Center Fall Design Day in September 30th.

Thomas will deliver the second Keynote address along with Kathryn Richardson also of Verellen. He will discuss the spirit and soul behind his family’s business and how the lifestyle of the brand is so personal to his parents and to him.

He is one of my favorite humans and I’m so happy to bring him to Seattle to help celebrate our arrival at the Seattle Design Center.

It’s been a crazy few weeks of packing, moving, cleaning, painting, unpacking, and preparing the showroom for all of you and we are thrilled to welcome you to our new home!

We are here ready to share our passion for great design elements here in the epicenter of PNW interior design.

My first connection to this place was in 1989. I’m thrilled to finally becoming a part of it.

Taking a moment to acknowledge this dynamic team at Brume! The trade team - Denise, Lucy, Christine, and Elyse - are the wizards behind the scenes who help to source, quote, purchase and arrange delivery of furnishings for design projects locally and across the US. This team is an amazing resource and touch point for designers with their depth of knowledge and ability to identify creative solutions.

The Emma by has been on the showroom floor for 5 years and the linen slipcover has withstood the wear and tear beautifully, maintaining it’s shape and has remained clean from dirt and debris, requiring only minimal cleaning with cloth and water.

To contrast, we carried the Weekend sectional by Moss in a performance fabric, acquired 2 years after the Emma, and almost immediately it began to collect dust and stains. The cleaning to minimize the stains required an intensive process with a Bissell cleaner and chemical products.

Many people believe that performance fabric is the fabric that will withstand the test of time, however as a showroom we have tested all types of fabrics and have found that linen outperforms manufactured products. Linen is naturally a performance fabric, easy to clean, void of chemical treatments, sustainable, and a great choice for homes with children and pets.

Did you know that Brume has a bedding boutique? Our Georgetown location is decked out with a workroom dedicated to fine linens and bedding. Our team provides bedding consultations to help you think through bedding layers, textile choices, and decorative touches. Featuring lines from Libeco, Matouk, Amalia, and Alexandre Turpault, we invite you to book a consultation to explore the world of luxury linens.

Picking out samples online is hard. That’s why designers visit our showroom to see samples in person, ensuring the colorway and texture are exactly as desired.

high point market reflections // biophilic design

One thing we love about Market is being exposed to new ideas that strengthens our design skills as a showroom and as a resource for interior designers. Today we learned about neuroaesthetics and biophilic design in a talk given by Mike Peterson, and our minds just lit up! Neuroaesthetics is the science of how beauty in our environments has measurable benefits and helps our mental health, and biophilic design is the practice of using nature in design as a tool that improves health. We are wired in our DNA to prefer natural settings, therefore using natural texture, color, vistas and shapes resonates with our humanity.

The fun is about to begin! High Point Market is a fast-paced time of seeing new lines and releases, connecting with our makers, and building new relationships. And it begins tomorrow! Renate and our team are ready to hit the ground running.
