“Island in the Sky”

After waking to the moon piercing through wisps of fog, I stayed up. For nearly three hours, I photographed the ever-changing light — from moonset to sunrise. It was one of the most beautiful mornings I’ve ever witnessed.

To be above the clouds, to watch that soft pastel light unfold, and to see only the mountain tops rising from the valley below — it couldn’t have been more perfect. Especially after such a long photographic drought.
