Members of our team are in "the other Washington" this week making connections and sharing stories from Ukraine with our Congressional representatives, joining over 700 other delegates from across the U.S at the Ukraine Action Summit.

Plight of 20,000 Ukrainian children abducted during war with Russia commemorated on National Mall An exhibition spotlighting the 20,000 missing Ukrainian children was unveiled Thursday on the National Mall, as Capitol Hill lawmakers accused Russia of committing war crimes by abducting the youths and severing their ties to their homeland.

To mark the anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster, Toloka presents a film night exploring the events of 1986 and their lasting impact — through documentary footage and contemporary artistic projects.

🎬 Chornobyl: The Lost Tapes
A powerful documentary built from newly discovered archival footage, offering a rare and deeply human perspective on the 1986 nuclear disaster.
🎧 “Chornobyl: Territory of Change”
An audiovisual project combining a journey through the Exclusion Zone with a live DJ set performed inside an unfinished cooling tower near Reactor No. 4. From atmospheric Ukrainian tracks to iconic international records, the music becomes a live soundtrack to a space frozen in time.
The event is organized in collaboration with Seattle Ukrainian Film Festival and with the support of Ukraine Defense Support — a local nonprofit providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

This evening also launches a new film initiative at Toloka — regular movie nights in collaboration with Seattle Ukrainian Film Festival. Open events where the community can explore Ukrainian cinema.

Ukraine's environment has been badly damaged by russia in many regions. Forests have burned, water aquifers have been drained, land has been polluted by land mines and chemical agents, and russia destroyed the Kakhovka dam on the Dnipro River, killing millions of fish and other animals and polluting thousands of acres of land with heavy metal sediments.

The American medic we support in Ukraine recently shared that she was awarded some new "chest candy." We know a hero when we see one, and "Baby Doc" is a true hero who has saved countless lives. In November & February, russia bombed both of the medical stabilization points she worked in, injuring medical staff & destroying critically-needed medical supplies & equipment. We are helping her re-stock the new stabilization point they are setting up. Please pitch in!

74-year-old Seattle man finds peace in panhandling for Ukraine Ralph Richardson has raised more than $9,000 for Ukraine Defense Support, a local nonprofit providing aid to frontline volunteers in the war against Russia.
