Ever hear a story about a new or expectant father who’s not engaged with his partner’s pregnancy? Or, maybe it’s reverse, he’s deeply involved but to the extent he’s trying to dictate everything ?
Most dads want to help. They want to support, protect, and advocate. But many have never been taught what that looks like during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Do they default to what they think is best.
That’s why 4Kira4Dads: Fatherhood and Advocacy for Safer Births is so important.
Join Birthing the Magic Collaborative and 4Kira4Moms for a conversation about how fathers can become more informed, engaged, and confident members of the birth team.
We’ll discuss how dads can recognize warning signs, ask thoughtful questions, support blood pressure monitoring, attend appointments, advocate with care, and know when to speak up.
Because when Dad is included, supported, and prepared, the whole birth team is stronger.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom was never a gift.
It was prayed for, labored for, carried forward, and claimed.
So today, we honor the women who birthed generations through impossible conditions, the mothers whose bodies held both grief and hope, and the families who continue to rise with love, wisdom, and power.
Black motherhood is our birthright, as is freedom.
Black motherhood is a birthright, not a battle.
We believe Black birth should be sacred, safe, supported, and surrounded by knowledge that helps families thrive.
And as we look to the future, we remain committed to a world where Black mothers are protected, Black babies are cherished, and Black families have the care, information, and community they deserve.
We honor this day because it reminds us that liberation lives in our history, our bodies, our babies, and our collective future.

Dad, what would you do if something didn't seem right?
Would you know the warning signs? Would you know what questions to ask? Would you know when to speak up?
Too many families learn the answers too late.
Join Birthing the Magic Collaborative and 4Kira4Moms for **4Kira4Dads: Fatherhood and Advocacy for Safer Births**, a conversation about how fathers can support moms, advocate for care, and help create safer pregnancies, births, and postpartum journeys.

Last week, I had a difficult conversation with our team about fundraising.
We compared this year's donations to last year's, and someone raised a concern that many organizations serving Black communities are hearing right now: some people are questioning whether they should support nonprofits that openly state they focus on Black families.
I sat with that conversation.
We aren't naïve. We've seen the headlines. We've watched organizations quietly change their language or distance themselves from the communities they were created to serve.
But then I thought about why Birthing the Magic Collaborative exists.
We exist because Black women and babies continue to face unacceptable disparities in maternal and infant health outcomes.
We exist because families deserve access to free, culturally relevant education and support.
We exist because birth should be sacred, safe, and supported.
The need hasn't changed, so neither has our mission.
As we approach Juneteenth, we're inviting you to help us support mamas and those who care for them.
Will you make a gift of $18.65 in honor of Juneteenth ~ June 19, 1865?
Also, will you please consider sharing this post?
And if sharing publicly doesn't feel comfortable, send it to a few friends in a DM and tell them why this mission matters to you.
Small actions add up.
That's how communities are built.
That's how movements grow.
That's how change happens.
Thank you for standing with Black birthing people and those who care for them.

When a mother says something doesn’t feel right, who is listening?
Fathers and partners are often the first line of support and sometimes the strongest voice in the room.
Join Birthing the Magic Collaborative and 4Kira4Moms for 4Kira4Dads: Fatherhood and Advocacy for Safer Births to learn how fathers can help protect moms, support healthy pregnancies, and advocate when it matters most.
