On the first project, I let them make virtually all of the design and material choices since the property was a starter home (they have an in-house designer), so I was very hands off. This allowed them to complete the project very quickly, since they used materials that they had on hand, or made substitutions on the fly. On the second project, I was much more hands on and made most of the design and material choices and CK was able to bring it to life and was extremely accommodating, especially when fixtures and materials I wanted were out of stock or when I was late getting back to them with selections, or when the city inspectors required multiple changes to the project scope each time they visited. I was referred to CK by my realtor because she had worked with them on tons of projects. They are family owned and have dozens of projects going on at any given time, so they're not a fly-by-night contractor. They're not the cheapest, but they run a really tight ship and between the quality of the work, their communication and their flexibility, working with them was a pleasure, especially with me being out of state. Another huge, huge, huuuuge advantage of them being a large operation is that they don't have cash flow issues like smaller contractors do, so they would be able to purchase supplies and pay their crew without being dependent on my payment/draw schedule -- that alone gave me a lot of confidence they weren't going to not show up on the job site one day and disappear with my money LOL. Would definitely recommend CK and would can't wait to work with them on some more projects!
