Think your lint screen is clean?
In this video, my vacuum has enough suction to lift the entire lint screen. Why? Because the screen was coated with residue from dryer sheets, restricting airflow through the mesh.
Even when lint is removed after every load, dryer sheet residue can build up over time and create an invisible barrier that makes your dryer work harder.
A simple test: run water over your lint screen. If the water pools on top instead of flowing through, it's time for a thorough cleaning.

At the beginning of the video, you can see strong airflow coming from the exterior vent. Then suddenly—nothing. The clog had broken free and traveled down the duct, where it became lodged in my vacuum hose.
After working the hose back and forth, the lint ball finally passed through and airflow was restored.
This is exactly why dryer vents need regular maintenance. Large lint accumulations restrict airflow, increase drying times, waste energy, and can become a serious fire hazard.

This dryer vent duct became completely disconnected in the attic, and the pink insulation wrapped around it was hiding the issue the entire time. Instead of venting outside, the gas dryer was blowing hot, moisture-filled air and combustion gases directly into the attic. 😳
We located the separation, properly reconnected the ducting, and sealed the joints with fresh tape to restore safe airflow to the outside where it belongs. ✅
