Friends, today is the day! 🎉 I finally get to share with you the project I've been working on for almost 3 years now, my new book: The Kindred Life: Stories and Recipes to Cultivate a Life of Organic Connection.✨

The Kindred Life is a rally cry for connection in a time when we need to recapture what’s been lost in the chaos of busyness, distraction, and isolation.

We find connection again in the rhythms and practices that have united us since the beginning of time, and still do: we get our hands dirty, we invest in authentic community, and we open up our tables.

I actually started this project in 2019, but what’s happened in the last few years has made it clear that we need this now more than ever. If you're hungering to be nourished on a soul level, to reclaim the gifts you have to offer the world, and to connect to a deep sense of community, this book is for you. You might even be ready to get some dirt under your fingernails. 😉🌱

▫️richly-detailed stories
▫️10 doable recipes meant to be shared
▫️vibrant photos
▫️journaling prompts so you can make the themes your own (or share in a book club! 🤗)

When I was starting this book project, the word “invitation” kept coming to mind. So consider this your invitation - will you join me?

💛Discover the beauty of community, the magic of coming together around the table, and the lessons the land can teach you, as you unearth your very own Kindred Life—right where you are.

Scenes from this past Friday’s Artisan Pizza in the greenhouse.✨🍕✨

A glowing sky opened up after the rain and hail earlier in the day, and then the feast began with a 🌈 salad featuring ingredients from our field and other local farms. The most popular pizza from the 4-course tasting menu was the radish kimchi + pork belly + Gorgonzola + strawberry gochujang pizza with honey, black sesame and watercress. 😋 To top it all off, fresh mint gelato with a homemade bambolini donut and strawberry sauce. 🍨

Then, time stood still for a little while when I had the opportunity to share an excerpt from about slowing down to the speed of listening. 📖✨What a night!✨💫

“When we remove the dross, the things that are sucking our time that don’t really matter, we’re left with the gold. When we make time to hear another person’s stories, we learn about how someone else sees the world. We have opportunities to grow our relationships. We learn more about the things that make us human in the first place.” ~ @organicstine

Oh heyyyy, really young us. 👋🏼 This is 2013 at our first ever farm dinner at Four Corners Brewing in our old beloved neighborhood of Oak Cliff, Dallas. When we were still urbanites, doing our best to connect people in the city with where their food comes from. This was called “A Steward’s Dinner,” and the keynote speaker was Joel Salatin of @polyfacefarm. Beekeepers and lawyers and farmers and artists, all around the table together. A collaboration with other local chefs and artisans. I remember standing on the balcony overlooking all of this and feeling that stirring - that we were on to something special. ✨

Join me as we explore some themes inside ! ✨📖✨ It releases on April 26th, in just a few short weeks!

In this post we’re exploring VOICE.

We all have a unique “song” to sing - the unique voice, gifts, and perspective we have to offer the world. I learned that sometimes we sing for pure joy, and sometimes we sing because we have to - for survival. The song is full of grit and beauty, and it’s unique to each of us.

Some of us need to find our own voices again, or for the first time.

Some of us have no trouble using our voices, and we’ve been told it’s too much.

This chapter is about finding and owning that voice.

Here, while digging into the soil of , is where I found my voice, but this message is for all of us, no matter where we live or what we do. ❤️

“We broke ground on the first day of spring 2017, and before that, I’d never farmed a day in my life. Steven and I had dreamed of having our own farm ‘one day,’ but when it became a reality, I resisted it wholeheartedly at first, fearing the potential isolation of living in the country and not knowing if I was cut out for the taxing manual labor of birthing a farm…

But only three months after that groundbreaking day, I’d worn some serious creases into my leather farm boots, and my palms had not one but two rows of calluses. We’d transformed a huge open field full of three-foot-tall weeds into a lush organic garden: a half acre of every shade of green, vines heavy with cucumbers snaking the ground, armfuls of magenta radishes and crimson beets, mini forests of kale and rainbow chard. The meadows where the piglets roamed were regrowing a deep emerald green.

As the land was being transformed, something inside me was healing and growing too.”
