Here's a little preview of an upcoming release over at Rowley Farmhouse Ales . The base beer is one of my favorite Rowley beers and this one is dry hopped with Galaxy. Aren't these labels sexy though? 🍻🍺🍻
If you watched my last episode and thought, "I wish there could be more of *this* guy", your wish is granted! I follow up my shortest review with my longest review yet, featuring Easy Lover, a barrel-aged braggot made with barrel-aged honey by Rowley Farmhouse Ales in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This braggot has notes of lambic tartness, apricot, oak, vanilla, and wood tannins, and is one of the most unique beverages I've had the pleasure to try. I am enjoying it atop the furthest south peak in the Rocky Mountain chain that is above treeline and above 12,000 feet.
Golden Oyster Mushroom “Farmers Market Risotto” from Rowley Farmhouse Ales . Absolutely delicious!! Rowley Farmhouse Ales is small, independently-owned brewery focused on brewing rustic farmhouse and sour ales. Come check us out! This is the official page for Rowley Farmhouse Ales.

We are an independently-owned farmhouse-style brewery with a focus on mixed culture fermentation. All our fermentations will take place in oak vessels, and in most cases with our house mixed culture that our brewmaster has been developing for quite some time. Spontaneous fermentation is likely to occur as conditions allow. Our inspiration comes from American and European wild and mixed culture fer

Tomorrow we are releasing 2 new bottles, along with the 2 we currently have on both our in-house and to-go menus. I’m really thrilled on how these new beers came out, and I suspect you will be too! If you are a fan of our house saison, Fields of Rye, then you’ll be digging these variants, both of which are mixed culture fermented versions utilizing the Fields base wort. Fields of Cypress was finished on cypress wood spirals, and the foeder-fermented version was refermented on a mix of bing cherries and locally picked black currants. Thanks to @mother.of.ridgebacks for supplying the currants! Cheers!

The 50 Best Beers of 2021, According to Brewers and Beer Geeks

Good afternoon y'all,

I wrote a little piece about a very special beer that I was lucky enough to try earlier this year. This is the kind of "best of" list I can get behind. Thanks to Nate Walter for his generosity and his unbound creativity. Also thanks to Gear Patrol and Niko Krommydas for the opportunity to submit a small blip on this delightful and unique beer.

Happy New Year,
John

Also, RIP Betty White. Your positivity and lovely sense of humor will be sorely missed.

The 50 Best Beers of 2021, According to Brewers and Beer Geeks To find the best new releases of the past year, we asked brewers, cicerones, writers, podcast hosts and other beer professionals to share their personal favorites. These are the 50 beers that debuted and dazzled in 2021.

2022 Craft Your Own Big Beers Tasting

Howdy y'all!

I most likely owe an update, and today is a good time to do so before the snow hits tonight.

2021 has been a challenging year, as we never really got back to our bottling roots, until the end of the year. Coronavirus is still a lingering issue, and still threatens a return to normalcy. We seemed to be a bit behind the 8-ball keeping up with canning orders, all the while being short staffed on our packaging team. I think we have turned the corner with respect to staffing, as Roger and Charles make a great team, and work really well together. We just hired a third guy, but I haven't gotten to meet him yet. I am sure I will soon enough.

We've been able to bottle a couple new beers, as well as label some bottles that have been steadily conditioning. Right now, we have Teosinte (a green dent corn brett saison), and Supernantant (a beefed up Germophile-like wort fermented with lactobacillius and kviek yeast, then aged on Gruner Veltliner lees from our friends at Vivác Winery (Special thanks to Jack and Jeff Welch for these) bottles at the tap room. We have paired up with @BigBeersFestival to release our next two bottles, which are both Fields of Rye variations, and are really excellent. Check out the digital pour app listed on their page: https://bigbeersfestival.com/craft-your-own-tasting/ and scroll down to the part where they talk about the digital pour app. If this is too much hassle, come on out on January 14th, where we will be releasing the following two bottles: https://untappd.com/b/rowley-farmhouse-ales-fields-of-cypress/4394271 and https://untappd.com/b/rowley-farmhouse-ales-fields-of-rye-foeder-aged-on-cherries-and-currants/4394317 I promise neither of these beers will disappoint!

A little before that, we will be releasing batch 1 of Hapi, which will be our semi-regular rotating New Zealand pale ale. The first batch was hopped with Nelson Sauvin and should release on 1/1, just in time for the New Year. We also got lucky and scored some amazing Riwaka hops, and will be using these for the second batch of Hapi.

In terms of beers in tanks, we have a munich dunkel lagering right now, as well as an imperial mocha stout fermenting away, but slow and cool to keep it from getting too hot. It's going to be a big beer, but I don't recall the target ABV right now.

I think that's all I have for now, but stay safe out there, get boosted, and have a great end to the holiday season.

Cheers,
John

@1.byland spent the day up at @goldspotbrewing brewing a collaboration Czech-style dark lager with some Sonoran white wheat he hauled up with him. We can’t wait to try this beer in February when they drop it for their upcoming anniversary! Thanks for hosting us! Happy Festivus!

TONIGHT!

Happy Festivus! We will be celebrating this miracle of a non-denominational holiday today, and will be putting on a keg of Darker Hedges as well. Come join us! As a note, we will be closing around 3 pm tomorrow, but it’ll depend on the shift supervisors call as she won’t kick you out if you’re thirsty in the mid afternoon hours. We will be closing for dinner service however, and will be closed on Christmas Day. Happy Festivus, and may all your holidays be safe and joyful! Cheers!

We are incredibly stoked on how this @fermlyknow collab green tea mixed fermentation saison is tasting going into the bottle. A few more months of bottle conditioning on wildflower honey, and we will be able to share this delightful beer with y’all! Happy holidays, friends!

Today we are bottling some of our special projects ta we’ve been aging in fresh fruit from this past season, some upcoming 5th anniversary specials, and just trying to catch up on some of our passion project work from the cellar. But in the meantime, we’ve got a bunch of bottles that have been conditioning and are ready to release, just in time for your holiday meals pairings. Keep an eye out, as we will be dropping these as soon as we can find the time to spin on some labels. Cheers!

Hi, friends! In honor of #GivingTuesday2021, we will be donating 100% of today's proceeds from our Pulls for Pups handle to our current Pulls for Pups charity, Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society!

As a reminder, $1/pour from the Pulls for Pups handle always goes to our quarterly rotating animal charity, but today feels like a great day to give back even more. Come on in and help us help NM's less fortunate critters! Oh, hey...as a bonus, today's Pulls for Pups beer is St. Bernardus Abbey 12😶.

As always, thanks so much for your support, friends!

We're hiring Packaging Assistants to help out on our canning line!

Have you always wanted to work at a real brewery, but aren’t quite ready to give up your day job? Do you want to learn commercial brewing techniques to advance your beer knowledge and improve your homebrewing skills? Do you want to have access every shift to the Head Brewer and see how the pros do it? Or are you already in the brewing industry and looking to work somewhere new with great beer and clear expectations? At Rowley Farmhouse Ales, the 2019 GABF Small Brewpub of the Year, we brew everything from live sour Berliner weisse, to saison, to IPA, to mixed culture fermentation beer barrel aged on real fruit. And we need YOUR help to package that beer into cans, bottles, and kegs so we can get it out of our tanks and into our customers’ hands.

We are currently hiring Packaging Assistants whose primary responsibility will be to can beer for 2-3 shifts during the Monday-Friday work week under the supervision of the Head Brewer. You will be guided through our standard operating procedures and have access to written instructions at all times in order to help guarantee the quality of our finished products. We take our beer seriously while also providing an environment where you can listen to music, chat about your interests, and wear jeans to work for every shift!

Our current Head Brewer has successfully trained multiple entry-level employees who are now the head brewers of large, successful breweries in their own right. Opportunities for training and education are practically endless for those who show interest, enthusiasm, and follow through. There will also be opportunities for advancement for employees who are able to follow instructions and accept feedback, and prove themselves to be reliable, trustworthy, mature, as well as forward-thinking, analytical problem solvers.

If you want to work at an established, nationally recognized brewery that is still small with room and plans for growth, send a resume and a 1-2 paragraph statement explaining why you are interested in this opportunity to Mike Donovan at [Email hidden]. See below for full job description and compensation.

Happy Small Business Saturday!
This definitely sounds like a made up Hallmark holiday, but the idea behind it is fantastic. It helps small businesses like ours, and keeps your spending dollars in your local community. If you choose to shop today, try to do it at a small, locally-owned business.

I want to apologize for any confusion yesterday, as our post on Instagram, and here on Facebook stated we opened at 11 am, when in fact we were working on our normal schedule of 11:30 am. I neglected to catch that in the artwork, so please accept my apologies for this oversight. I should have caught that, and didn't realize it until well after the fact.

Thanks for coming out yesterday, and special thanks are due to Jessica Brewer, who absolutely crushed the appetizer plate we offered to pair us with all the lovely stouts we had on. Thanks so much! I couldn't tag her for whatever reason, so please offer her thanks and praises if you see her.

Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend!

Cheers,
John
