Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!
Today is a day to honor and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Those of us from across the Silk Roads Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Congo, Sudan, the Uighurs, the Rohingyas, the Tibetans all nations that were occupied and lands stolen stand in solidarity and resilience with them.
Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!
Today we honor and celebrate our histories and cultures, and our enduring presence as stewards of earth, air, and waters.
This is a wonderful month to direct some of your financial resources in support of Indigenous organizations that work hard every day to protect land and waters, to address and remedy longstanding inequities, to decolonize. Please consider donating to Native-led nonprofits today and during October. Our donation link is in the comments.
Indigenous Peoples’ Day is also an opportunity to commit or re-commit to learning about meaningful allyship and how to practice it. This is more than just a one-day action, but today can offer a focal point. Questions to contemplate (with thanks to Andrea Landry):
• How has my family benefitted from the past and present colonization and genocide of the original peoples of these lands?
• How did my family gain access to originally Indigenous lands?
• What legacy does my family have in the role of colonization?
• How am I continuing to benefit from colonization today?
Your honest reflections will allow you to come from a place of integrity when engaging in issues that impact Indigenous people.

This is who we are holding onto the belief in knocking down walls and building longer tables towards respect, understanding, and bridging the gap between communities. This is how we make alchemy and what happens when we sincerely work together for a better and beautiful Santa Fe by sharing our food culture, songs, music, dance, prayers, and poems. Thank you all for coming through and supporting our mission in making our City of Santa Fe even more beautiful where immigrants are welcome and part of our story! 💫

May we all stand against oppression and dehumanization wherever it exists, not be silent in the face of unimaginable suffering and remember that every child, no matter where they’re born, deserves safety, love, and a chance to grow up in peace. There will be no peace without Palestine 🇵🇸💫 may it be forever free!
Thank you to the resilient Palestinian mothers and children who came to share their lives, grief, and joy, as well as in providing this special space for us all to be part of ✨
