Puff pastry with brie and black caps. And a glass of blueberry wine from 2012. Gotta drink it before we have to move it. This is definitely one of my best.

It’s 81F with humidity off the charts in this house (no a/c). A refreshing cocktail is in order: locust blossom infused vodka and QAL cordial garnished with a sprig of mint from the garden.

Cooking with Butter (the instructor!) is an experience not to be missed!

This year more than ever, I am looking forward to being a presenter at a scaled-down version of Botanica A Festival of Plants. Registration is now open if you'd like to join me for my wild foods cooking class, "Wild Foods in Your Kitchen." Which plants I highlight will depend upon what is peaking that week, but the emphasis of the class will be on making our chosen wild foods feel as comfortable a part of your kitchen as spinach or lettuce.

Yesterday I got an email that made my day. A forager I haven't met yet (thank you Dwight!) sent this lovely photo and said that he used these fresh-picked violets in the buttermilk muffin recipe from my new book, The Forager's Pantry. Isn't this exactly what every author hopes will happen? I was especially pleased because Dwight understood the idea of the master recipe: using what he foraged that day in a recipe capable of accepting many different wild ingredients. He got creative, put his own spin on it, and then was kind enough to let me know. Thank you Dwight!

I have a new website AND a new book! - Backyard Forager

If you get my newsletter, you already know I have a new book coming out on March 23. That's right, in less than two weeks, The Forager's Pantry will be available world wide and I couldn't be happier. (Well, ok, I could be happier if, say, the pandemic were over, if all the abandoned cats and dogs in the world found good families, if no one ever went hungry or unloved...but you get my drift.) This book is based on the concept of master recipes, so whatEVER you bring home from a foraging expedition, you'll be able to make something delicious with it....
