The energy of this day reminds us that abundance is an intrinsic quality of the universe, that we live in a generous planet that gifts us with everything we need for life.
Today Wajxaqib’ Kawoq connects us with that abundance, it speaks to us of focusing our energy on it, for we cannot find abundance by focusing our energy on scarcity, we will not be able to flow in life if we only concentrate on our difficulties, we will not find love by centering our energy on our loneliness, for we would be energetically potentiating what we do not want. This day reminds us that our energy must be available and open to receive everything we need and deserve.

Happy Winter Solstice to all! The sunlight begins its journey back to the north. Wishing everyone a joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year!
Wishing you all a joyous Thanksgiving Day!
Happy & Healthy Father's Day!
We wish all fathers around the globe a very happy and healthy celebration and send you all a huge thank you for all you do to help make us strong.
Celebrate the light of the Summer Solstice!
We are excited to see the return of live theater performances here in Santa Fe. It has been way too long. We hope to return to producing shows in the next six to nine months. In the interim, we will see you at productions around town. We are thrilled that Santa Fe theater is back!
Happy Mother's Day!...
We wish you a happy & healthy Mother's Day!
With our deepest gratitude, we express our appreciation and love for mothers everywhere. We hope you have a joyous day today and beyond.
We're excited to see that the theater community is thriving in Santa Fe, planning productions for this summer and fall.
Our neighbor Tune-Up Cafe has blossomed with people coming to the restaurant, picking up takeout or utilizing the "Door Dash" option. It's great to see.
We will keep you apprised of upcoming events. Because of the intimacy of our space we are moving forward with caution. We want to make sure that everyone that comes to The Oasis will be safe: audience, cast and crew. In the interim, be safe, wear masks, wash your hands, sanitize . . . whatever it takes to stay safe and healthy.
As always, we say thank you to our audience. Without you, the theater would not be possible. We long for the day when we can all gather together again to share stories through live performances.
It has been a year!
One year ago, we were to open with John Patrick Shanley’s Outside Mullingar in our new space.
Facing the difficulties that shutdown presented, for performing artists not being able to perform live in front of an audience has been soul-draining. Always with people’s health and safety in mind, it became a harsh reality that it will be a long time before we can safely gather together in an intimate space like our theater.
After a brief period of sadness, we decided to take action and move forward. And things are beginning to pay off. Brenda is pitching our film projects to producers and managers. One script about New Mexico wine country is getting attention and is under serious consideration with three production companies at this time. Exciting!
Mistakenly, Brenda joined a Horror Authors book club (that’s a long story for another day), but it was serendipitous, because through this organization, she pitched her thriller to a literary book agent who is awaiting chapters as Brenda churns them out.
Jim has created a one-man show about William Blake that we are converting into a web series later this year. We are also working on a possible web series written for actors that have worked with us here in Santa Fe. All filmed with social distancing, of course.
Unfortunately, due to the limited seating capacity in our space, it is not financially viable for us to produce a show at 30% capacity. We have to wait until everything opens up again. Our hope is to be back on the boards in our theater this time next year.
In the meantime, be well. We love you and can’t wait to see you at the theater.
Happy New Year!
Happy Thanksgiving!... Jim and Brenda The Oasis Theatre Company www.theoasistheatre.com

Culture's Capabilities
“If culture is capable of anything, then it is finding that which unites us all.”
Krzysztof Kieślowski
Inspired by the gifted film artist, Krzysztof Kieślowski, it is time to bring culture back into our lives with as much care and regard for our health as we can provide.
If there is anything worthwhile doing for the sake of culture, then it is touching on subject matters and situations which link people, and not those that divide people. There are too many things in the world which divide people, such as religion, politics, history, and nationalism. If culture is capable of anything, then it is finding that which unites us all. And there are so many things which unite people. It doesn't matter who you are or who I am, if your tooth aches or mine, it's still the same pain. Feelings are what link people together, because the word "love" has the same meaning for everybody. Or "fear", or "suffering". We all fear the same way and the same things. And we all love in the same way.
Krzysztof Kieślowski
The countdown has begun. 8 Saturdays from this past Saturday, The Oasis will be celebrating our 32nd birthday in our new space so . . .

The comments below the article's link are mine and are closely affiliated with the tenor of the article--i.e., that theatre is a necessity like breathing and that is has been and will continue to be a part of the inner fabric of every human being. What's in a name?
When we set out to start a theater in New York City a few years back, the naming of our adventure was quite a process. Rooted in the belief that the theater is a sanctuary where we explore what it is to be and become human, we pulled out our Merriam-Webster’s Thesaurus (a staple in every writer’s library) and began with the word “sanctuary.” To our revelation, the word shelter was among the list of synonyms. Shelter—a place of refuge, a safe harbor, a home. Shelter then led us to “oasis.”
Huzzah! We had our name.
It encapsulates our goals—providing a safe environment for an ensemble of actors to experiment and grow as artists; a playground where audience and actor are able to delight in the different worlds created by playwrights; and, last but not least, a place where we shed new light on old perceptions—The Oasis Theatre Company.
That’s our name.
