While we may not be able to ride together on May 17th we can still ride the route “together” virtually and on social media. Route maps are available on www.santafecentury.com
Either solo or with members of your “quaranteam” (members of your household for example), ride all or part of any of the 3 rides of the Santa Fe Century during bike month and take a picture along the route. Tag the location and on Facebook and/or Instagram https://www.instagram.com/santafecentury/.
You can also join our Strava club and your ride will automatically be counted in the group’s miles. https://www.strava.com/clubs/santafecentury.
Suggestions for stops along the route:
• Santa Fe Community College
• Santa Fe Brewing Company (Open for to-go beer sales from
3-7)
• Madrid
• Heart Break Hill
• Stanley
• Lamy Hill (You know the one. 1.5 miles from the left turn onto 285.)
• Cafe Fina www.cafefinasantafe.com (open for to-go orders)
While you can ride the route all month (or anytime) the Santa Fe Century will have a “virtual ride” on May 17th. Any route. Any state. Any country for that matter. Just go for a ride on May 17th and tag on Facebook and/or Instagram in a picture along the way or join our Strava club and upload your ride. For an added challenge, ride the distance you would have on the day.

There are amazing trails in Santa Fe, but if you want to escape the heat and crowds, take a trip up to the Hopewell Lake Loop on the Continental Divide Trail (CDT). Nestled between Tierra Amarilla and Tres Piedras, Hopewell Lake and Campground sits at 9500 feet where the CDT crosses. We rode the CDT south, downhill about 5.5 miles. This beautiful stretch of mainly singletrack meanders through forest and meadow ending in an expansive view of lush valleys and seemingly endless mountains. To make it a loop, we climbed back up the 5.5 miles on Forest Road 91B. While ending the ride on a climb is not optimal, one can always shuttle or drive down 91B to start. It was such a fun and beautiful ride that we were tempted to keep going south down the CDT, but we'll save that for another adventure!

Ride of the Week - Pajarito Meadow to Guaje Ridge
We escaped the heat and the crowds by driving up to Los Alamos' Pajarito Ski Area. It's been a while since we've ridden up there and it is bittersweet. The landscape is scarred from the devastating Cerro Grande, Dome, and Las Conchas fires, but there are signs of regrowth and areas of tall pines. We rode the Meadow and Pipeline trails to upper Guaje Ridge. The undulating trails provide spectacular views of the canyons, mountain ranges, and the Valle Grande. Worth the drive! Recommended for Intermediate + riders.
*El Parasol - Los Alamos is open. Great for before or after burrito.

Awesome to see Jordyn and Devon riding. The Romero legacy shines bright!

Ride of the Week: Galisteo Basin. A great venue if you haven't been in the saddle in a while or want to introduce riding to a newbie. Super fun and lots of trails for all! Although the parking areas are busy, we peddled around on Sunday at 1:00 pm for a couple of hours and came only across seven riders, a handful of hikers and a couple painting landscapes. So as far as social distancing...you should be good to go.
