This Vitamin Can Prevent Skin Cancer

New Mexico has the highest incidence of skin cancer in the country, in part because of our intense, 300+ days of sunshine each year. While sunscreen is a vital preventative tool, a recent study shows that for people with a history of basal and squamous cell carcinomas, taking Vitamin B3 (nicotinamide) can reduce the risk for new non melanoma cancers by 23%. The American Society for Clinical Oncology called the study “the first clear evidence that skin cancers can be prevented using a simple, inexpensive vitamin, along with sun protection.”
