Put on your best and say “cheese”!

It's official. The Santa Fe City Council has approved the Midtown Arts and Design Alliance ground lease. After years of work and community support, we are moving forward. This happened because of this community. We are taking a group photo to mark this moment, and we want as many Santa Fe faces in it as possible. Come be part of it!

June 26 | 4–6 PM
Visual Arts Center Courtyard, 1600 St. Michael's Drive
Campus Tour: 4–5 PM | Community gathering and group photo: 5–6 PM

Come capture the moment with us! Open to all.

CENTER is pleased to announce the winner of the 2026 Callanan Excellence in Teaching Award. Please join us in congratulating Andrew Patteson, Director of Arts and Photography Teacher at Waterford School, Sandy, UT. This award honors a high school, college, or postgraduate teacher’s dedication and commitment to their students and the photographic field.

FROM THE JUROR'S STATEMENT • “What stands out most is how often students reference time, projects that continue after the semester, conversations that carry forward, and feedback that stays with them long enough to affect future decisions. His influence doesn’t peak during critique or at the end of a course; it accumulates over time.”

— Juror: Eric Kunsman • Photographer, Book Artist, & Assistant Professor, Visual Communications Studies Department, National Technical Institute for the Deaf, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)

Desert Dead 05/29/2026

"I remember going to a funeral by my church in La Union, New Mexico, and immediately noticing the distinction and uniqueness of the space. Even in cartoons, you see the traditional marble— you see traditional stone. The desert landscape provided a different setting, but was sometimes literally incorporated with the headstones—cholla crosses, native plant life planted directly and intentionally onto burial mounds." — JC Gonzo
