Hello and Welcome to the PCA community! Today's post is the answer to a simple question: Who is Etienne? Here is his biography... enjoy!

Etienne Peirsman is one of the most respected CranioSacral Therapy teachers worldwide, and has been teaching for 30 years. He is the founder and director of PCSA (Peirsman CranioSacral Academy) in the Netherlands, and originated the CranioSacral Professional Organization in Holland, and is an honorary member of The Dutch CranioSacral Practitioner Association (NCSV). Additionally, he taught CS at the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts and Bastyr University for nearly a decade. He now teaches at his new school, Peirsman Craniosacral Academy, in Tijeras, New Mexico. Etienne is also the author of the wonderful book, Craniosacral Therapy for Babies and Small Children.

As a meditator of over 40 years, Etienne Peirsman developed a unique teaching style over the past three decades that adds an extraordinarily compassionate and meditative depth to the methods used by the Upledger Institute and combines a practical, no-nonsense approach with the biodynamic style.

His specialty is the expression of the Heart, the long tide, and their connection to meditation and enlightenment. He has said “Drop the word therapy. It is not part of who and what we are. Face it, you are perfect and your heart is perfect”.

Recent studies conducted by the Institute of HeartMath provide a clue to explain the bidirectional "healing" that happens when we are near horses. According to researchers, the heart has a larger electromagnetic field and higher level of intelligence than the brain: A magnetometer can measure the heart's energy field radiating up to 8 to 10 feet around the human body. While this is certainly significant it is perhaps more impressive that the electromagnetic field projected by the horse's heart is five times larger than the human one (imagine a sphere-shaped field that completely surrounds you). The horse's electromagnetic field is also stronger than ours and can actually directly influence our own heart rhythm!
Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a "coherent" heart rhythm (heart rate pattern) which explains why we may "feel better" when we are around them. . . .studies have found that a coherent heart pattern or HRV is a robust measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy--that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions.
A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adjust to stressful situations very efficiently. Often times, we only need to be in a horses presence to feel a sense of wellness and peace. In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits while interacting with horses, including lowered blood pressure and heart rate, increased levels of beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters that serve as pain surppressors), decreased stress levels, reduced feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, improved social functioning; and increased feelings of empowerment, trust, patience and self-efficacy."

COVID 19 Update

I am opening my practice to fully vaccinated people. Currently I have Thursdays at the Heal space and some Saturdays. Very soon, I will have a practice space at my home which will give much more flexibility.

I am offering a special rate for the first two treatments and 30 minute sessions for those who feel that would work better for them. We are all very depleted after the last year+ and some of us are very fragile.
