December brings witness to wild animals' poetic, inspirational, seasonal behaviors here in Central New Mexico, one of which is the starling murmuration. Watch for these increased, beautiful swooping masses forming ethereal, shifting images as they keep warm, ward off predators, and exchange information. Simply incredible!

Soon the river and bosque critters will hunker down to regenerate through the quiet of cold and snow. We wish them a peaceful off-season and thank them for the roles they play in the treasure of the Rio Grande.
Safety is our first priority, and drives our passion for continuing education and practice, practice, practice!
Debriefing at the end of each day keeps us sharp. We turn the spotlight on ourselves to be the best we can be.

Season's end reflections recall the invention of rafting in 1811, development of rubber rafts in 1840, amazing scientific river explorations because of rafts, and finally - the raft commercially available for fun seekers in 1940 - look at us now! Bobbing along just because we are that lucky! Pictured: Lewis and Clark expedition in early rafts.

We will miss you, too, Abelino! Don't cry....next summer will be here before you know it!
