Show your home some love by taking the time to identify vulnerable areas that need to be addressed before a wildfire appears. Start with the top of the structure, work down to the ground, and then work out from there. Remember: While you may not see the flames, wind can carry hot embers from burning vegetation or other materials at least a mile or more away from an active wildfire.
🍂 Protect your home from wildfire by removing leaves and pine needles from your roof, valleys in pitched roofs, gutters and deck.
🏠 Check vent screens, and keep them clear of debris. If possible, consider installing fire-resistant roofing.
🛠 Replace exterior wall coverings that are combustible, susceptible to melting, or can readily transmit heat.

As we are considered an essential service during the current health orders, we are still open and scheduling appointments.

We practice all PPE protocols, sanitizing and daily health checks. We ask all our customers to wear their masks while we are inside their homes, as well as remove all art, furniture and fireplace accessories (or laundry room accoutrements) so we are only touching the appliance we are inspecting, cleaning, repairing or installing. All of our service reports and billing are delivered electronically.

If you have a scheduled appointment and have been exposed to Covid or are concerned that you may have been, please call, text, email, or use our contact form to let us know immediately.

We as a service team are also 100% committed to this promise to you and our communities. If anyone of us, or a member of our households, have felt ill, we have immediately communicated with each other, took action and received negative test results. If anyone should test positive, we would communicate with our customers at once as well as report to the appropriate agency while sanitizing our vehicles, tools and equipment in preparation to re-open if the event should occur.

We take your hearth and dryer vent safety seriously. We take this time just as serious.
Stay well. Keep hope.

[12/28/19]   Most already probably know this, but seems worthy of repeating...
It may seem tempting to burn your Xmas tree in the fireplace - PLEASE DON'T!
While the needles may be dry, the wood is still green and will create for certain a chimney fire. Green conifer wood is a pine torch!
We do encourage you to cut off all the branches, mulch the needles, chop the trunk to length, and let season for at least a year.

[12/24/19]   Happy Holidays from ABC&DE!

May yours be joyous and bright.

[10/31/19]   Happy Halloween from ABC&DE!

Don't take our word for it - it's on TV! But seriously, we use our dryers more than our wood burning appliances. It may be time to get your dryer exhaust inspected.

"Every year 15,000 fires are caused by accidental dryer lint ignition" - The Big Bang Theory. Be safety smart and get your dryer exhaust inspected and cleaned by a Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician® (found at www.dryersafety.org). Kudos to a tv show getting a fairly accurate number! https://youtu.be/LkVE4C8t5o0

[10/15/18]   First snow of the season in Santa Fe today! A helpful tip for when the weather turns cold and damp - remember to prime your flue in a woodstove or your fireplace.

You may need a blow dryer for your fireplace (or even a blow torch for those big Rumford fireplaces around). A rolled newspaper should work well for your woodstove.

Priming the flue can reduce back drafting from the cold plug of air in your chimney.

Household cord limits have increased for 2018! It's a good time to get your permits and start pulling deadwood / felled wood for your wood burning needs this winter.

Annual per household limit for firewood is up from 10 cords to 15 for 2018. Buy your permits at a location near you. All permit holders must have the appropriate tags.
