Dancers by Design Project (DBDP) is a pure, high-velocity contemporary dance company based in Santa Barbara, CA.
Contemporary dance artists working in collaboration to create performances, projects and training that focus on breaking down preconceptions of what dance can be and ultimately create universal, exhilarating dance experiences. DBDP thrives on collaborating with dance artists, composers, DJ's, aerialists, filmmakers, photographers, writers, and anyone with creative vision to construct (or deconstru
ct) stories, experiences, and ideas. DBDP strives to break the expectation of dance as exclusive to inclusive, to break down the "fourth wall" and ultimately convey universal human experience through physical movement in ways the appeal to both the seasoned dance viewer and the neophyte alike. Choreographer and Founder Nicole Helton, holds a BFA in Dance with an emphasis in performance and choreography from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Several years in the making the Dancers by Design Project aims to bridge a gap in the Santa Barbara community at large by offering high quality, truly contemporary dance that is accessible to anyone and everyone. Everything we see, touch and experience is created. With this in mind, Dancers by Design Project asks, "What do want to create?"
We hope you will join us in our journey to share and create meaningful, exhilarating and cutting edge contemporary dance performance.
