We spent a fun afternoon exploring the Urban Creek Trail along Santa Barbara鈥檚 Mission Creek, walking the first 8 of 19 bridges with community members and the team from @sbcreeks.
聽
Along the way, they shared fascinating insights about our local creeks, endangered steelhead trout, sycamore trees, water quality improvement projects, and some history of our City鈥檚 waterways.
聽
We had a great time and are already looking forward to our next Urban Creek Trails adventure!

Please join us on March 1 for our first Mission Lagoon Cleanup of 2025! The timing works out well with the recent rains, as cleaning up the beach and lagoon area is the last chance to remove litter that has washed down from the upper watershed before it gets into the ocean.

Please contact us at [email protected] to RSVP or ask any questions you have. We encourage you to bring your own reusable cleanup supplies (e.g. gloves, trash grabbers, buckets) if you have them, but if not, we will provide you with supplies. Free parking permits for the morning will also be provided. All participants must sign a waiver, or have a parent sign a waiver if under 18.

Last we celebrated Creek Week with a clean-up of the Sycamore Creek just outside the Zoo!

With the largest group of creek cleaner-uppers we鈥檝e ever had composed of Zoo staff and community members, we worked together to remove nearly 160 pounds of trash from Sycamore Creek.

A big THANK YOU to all who came out last week to help keep our local creeks, watersheds, and the ocean pristine!
