Let's talk about recycling . Lightweight polyethylene packaging is everywhere. It’s used for all kinds of plastic bags, product wrappers, and dry cleaning. Many recyclers don’t accept film plastics because the material tends to jam up sorting conveyor belts at recycling facilities and often loses its value when it’s contaminated or torn in the recycling bin. Santa Barbara has a robust film plastics recycling program created by Ablitt's Fine Cleaners with support from Channelkeeper and the Community Environmental Council (CEC). Samarkand Residents Donate 45 Big Bags of Plastic to Be Reused - The Santa Barbara Independent They took advantage of Ablitt’s Fine Cleaners’ Planet Protector program.

We had the honor of doing laundry for the San Jose Quakes these last few weeks while they were training in Santa Barbara for the upcoming season! What a great group of athletes. They said "Ablitt's provided the best laundry service they have had yet!" Check out the souvenir they left us (That's Sasha Ablitt posing with the signed jersey)

We wanted to keep it local ----- and safe!

Thank you for recognizing our efforts to combine the original artwork of David J. Diamant (santabarbaraprints.com) along with the water based screen printing by Earl Arnold (Table Salt Screen Printing) to make face masks highlighting city landmarks. Our employees were proud to produce them and keep their creation 100% local. And all the masks assembled and sewed together by Ablitt's Fine Cleaners employees making these mask 100 % local.

After tremendous community feedback (over a dozen calls a day back in August!), Ablitt's has re-imagined and re-started their community plastic recycling program! In the first 2 month of starting "events" we have collected over 500 pounds of film plastic! These events have become much more than just collection. . . It is bringing our community together and educating each other and connecting amazing people and generating new momentum on how to help!
