It's Snail Mail Monday. Made a Minecraft inspired birthday card. Lots of work + time, but lots of fun, and also lots of mess on my desk!

I have a bit of perfectionism in me which often leads to projects not happening because of fear/not getting the first step just right. I've been wanting to carve a block for a while, but I'm not very good at drawing and dreaded this step so it hasn't happened. To try and change that, I decided to carve a block without over thinking - I picked a super simple image I love, drew it freehand onto the block (there's no erasing pencil lines on these rubber blocks as far as I know) and went with it. It's not what's pictured in my head, but I had fun making it and I'm liking its imperfection! I think an imperfect project is much better than a project that's just stuck in my head :) I also got to use my new set of Flexcut Carving Tools I got for Christmas!

I'm looking forward to learning how to use this vintage loom I found at a local thrift store a few months ago - Loomette by Cartercraft Studios in Los Angeles, CA. Don't know how old it is, but instruction booklet says "Copyright 1936." Anyone else have one or know how to use it?

It's Snail Mail Monday! My little buddy joined me again and he was really looking forward to making cards. It's also been fun hearing from last week's recipients when they got their little surprise in the mail :)

Testing out some gold block printing ink on different papers. We had tons of painted lady butterflies in our backyard yesterday, it inspired me to pull out the butterfly block I cut late last year.

It's April - Card & Letter Writing Month!!! I used to love sending friends and family letters in the mail, but that went by the wayside after college. I've been wanting to get into it again and what better time than now - something to do at home + staying connected with loved ones we can't see in person! My 4 year old nephew joined me in the inaugural Snail Mail Monday. He loves making cards! The card featured in the photo is for his aunt who had a birthday recently and he signed it "Davin, Shabina, Jedi" with a paw print (I always sign cards including our pup Jedi with paw print 😅). He also picked the stamp for each envelope, considering what he thinks the recipient would like 💜

Beautiful bar at the barn + creative cocktails concocted by = one poppin' party! The laser engraved orange acrylic bar menu (made by me!) on the left lists the libations. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is my favorite!
