Jacob Cole
https://substack.com/@jacobedwardcole Jacob Edward Cole is a California based songwriter, guitarist and singer. It's twin peaks meets rock + roll.
Previously fronting Saint Anne's Place and King Cole, Jacob grew up on the quiet central coast listening to an eclectic mix of 60’s FM radio and the hits of the 80’s. Fond of the Beatles' sense of melody, the experimentation and mystery of John Fahey, and the song 'Lift Me Up' by Bruce Springsteen - Jacob & his band incorporate it all but update the sound for today. Backed by longtime friend, mult

Sometimes I’m trying to read charts, sometimes I’m reading lyrics, sometimes I’m reading the room, other times I don’t remember how to read at all. Dfferent strokes for different folks or different hats when playing for different cats.
You ever write a word out so many times it looks wrong? Different looks wrong today even though I know it’s right…

Carving out time to play without agenda or anything is often harder than you might think, at least lately. Reminder to do it when, where and however you can. It’s musical mental health. It’s necessary to keep doing all the other things. Anyone else feel like they’re constantly playing catch up?
That all said, I’ve got a few gigs coming up as ur friendly neighborhood guitar player coming up ~>
First tomorrow night (Thursday) sitting in with along with .lazy.daughter music from 6-9pm, free one, all ages, good times if around 🎼

I’m still very much resonating with the inherently valuable and timely ideas, lessons + lectures from the course via back in January. Very grateful for the opportunity to learn. I’ll be digesting these concepts and perspectives for a long time to come 🙏
I joined the class a little later back in January after some encouragement from my friend Dealing with imposter syndrome, life and what not.
Lecture number 4 really hit. Curiosity, obsession, embodiment, letting go. Autotelic practice. Calibration points.
Just again, very grateful.
Here are some Etudes and songs inspired by the course.
Playing solo today from 4-7pm
Tomorrow on guitar with
Wednesday playing some of these ideas
Be well out there xo

Another trip around the sun. Thank you all for the kind birthday wishes, truly meant a lot. While the idea of celebrating yourself once a year ain’t really ever been my thing (my own subjective preference of course), it was nice to try and unplug, move slow, hear from folks and find a little peace. Very grateful for that 💙
I’ve had a lot of “aha” moments this past year, small things that translate into a different perspective, gearshift + approach. Growth and grief being big themes.
Looking forward to sharing more little moments and more music with y’all sooner than later xoxo
Thanks again, sending love out there and wishing for much more peace xo
