School may be ending for the year but the boys are still helping Alice practice for softball. Excuse her being overly critical of herself.

We have a baby wild mallard for the night. Someone said it ran into their garage and the mother was nowhere to be found. They called my brother who, knowing my love of rescues, called me to keep it over night. Tomorrow we’ll be taking the duckling to a local wildlife rehab center so they can be raised and released back into the wild. The rehab center is appropriately named Back to the Wild.

How many of you have tried quail eggs? We have them for sale on our farm up in Sandusky Ohio. Their yolks are creamy. They’re great boiled in salads. Or even boiled and pickled. That’s my favorite! For Christmas season the elves make mini fried eggs for the girls and they love it! We have courtunix and celadon quail. We also added Bob whites and gamble this year!

We added a couple new geese to the farm today. The flock took them under their wing (pun intended) and absolutely love them. It was the best outcome! These two boys will grow up with us and one will get to go to fair in August.

This is the daily struggle. The girls, even tho they’ve had 2 rounds of worms today, are always lurking and waiting. I’m just trying to clean the entryway to the house. But I keep hearing pecks at the door.

These are our zombies. They are a mix of Ayam Cymani and Leghorns.
We named the one on the left Theresa (T for short) and on the right is Robin.
