🏊‍♀️ I was born and raised in San Francisco's Sunset District. Though my childhood home was only one mile from the Pacific Ocean, I never swam in it (too cold -- the average temp year-round was about 50) or 🏄 surfed in it near The Cliff House.

🤿 From "high on a hilltop" at Abraham Lincoln High School, I could see the deep-blue ocean two miles away, and the Farallon Islands 28 miles in the distance. These views inspired me to later become a scuba diver.

🎓 I had a mini-reunion a few weeks ago and was pleased that a bunch of my classmates bought my book of mostly humorous diving tales.
