I have some news to share with you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I started Real Food House to simplify mealtime. It was never about food but rather what food allows you to do with your body and mind.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the surface, we were talking about feeding a family, but we were really talking about values, love, and confidence.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We continued these themes in Improv Cooking classes, REAL Circle events, and the 10x REAL program. All the while building friendships and learning about ourselves. There was always a deeper meaning behind it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I started Real Food House when my oldest child was 1. Now she’s 9. I’m most proud of the friendships I’ve built along the way and that will never change but it’s time for Real Food House to evolve and to have a new name that encompasses the broadness of our conversations and that feels aligned with the additional experience I have now too.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With that said...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Real Food House is now Kelly Brown Coaching, LLC and my services have expanded to include life, career, and well-being coaching in order to help you find more meaning, get unstuck, and find the clarity and freedom to build a career and life you love while taking care of yourself along the way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What's changing?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The name, the website, the scope of work
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What's not changing?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My values, my approach, my coaching philosophies, the 10x REAL program, and my appreciation for you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On a personal note, we're about to embark on something exciting that I never thought I'd do, and as a result, I'll be on a tech break and you won't see me on social media this summer. Make sure you're on my newsletter for updates on that this fall and as always, you can book a call to learn more about coaching and team facilitation services or catch up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Wishing you a wonderful summer.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Love, Kelly

A good reminder to be kind to yourself and don't forget your shoes. Thank you for publishing this !

Read “Self-Love in the Time of Coronavirus,” at the “Articles” link in bio for more on possible raccoons in the backseat, the January of all Januaries, and how forgetting to put on my shoes showed me exactly what I needed to remember.

I remember the first few months of motherhood, the intensity of the emotions. It was like the volume was turned up and every feeling and experience was amplified. Putting sheets on the crib mattress for the first time, shopping for the perfect stroller, getting through the first cold, getting to know my baby and wondering if I was messing everything up, it all felt big and new. Along with that, I was getting to know myself in a new way, transitioning into a new identity as a mom, and adjusting to living in a body that felt like it belonged to someone else.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I remember the New Year coming around when my first baby was about six months old and thinking, now is the time for the resolutions. Bring ‘em on. And historically for me, resolutions involved vows to change habits usually with the intention of changing my body in some way. I thought, if my body would go back to how it was before kids, then I’d be “succeeding,” then I’d feel like myself again…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Read on at the “recent articles” link in profile and come back to let me know how you’ll be you in 2022.

Thank you,

I had a boss who’d say, "Take the time on the wall."

As in, if you're swimming a relay race rest when it's not your turn.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take the time on the wall.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The long way home from the grocery store.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The mint tea and a book while your kids watch a show.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The time between work projects to enjoy lunch with a friend.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The family vacation after the busy season.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The day by yourself after the family vacation…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The time on the wall is what fills you up and readies you for whatever is next. Whatever greatness you have in store, the time on the wall prepares you for that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The time on the wall allows you to swim fast, run hard, love deeply, give generously.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For me, that looks like a tech break for a few weeks. A break from messaging and from being followed around by ads for weighted blankets and cozy pajamas (retargeting is real), a chance to feel inspired, and experience experiences.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Happiest of holidays to you dear friends, see you in 2022. ✌️❤️☕️

Are work and life really separate things?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I worked at Google, it certainly didn't feel like work and life were separate things. My friends were my coworkers, heck my husband was my coworker. I was losing sleep prepping for meetings in my mind, and always answering emails on my couch. My work was very much part of my life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Even now, with a coaching practice I love, work is still very much part of my life. It's a source of purpose, joy, and connection and when I'm filled up with satisfying and meaningful work I'm a better mom, wife, and friend.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I spent 10 days this month at the Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute learning from the best and thinking about how to show up in a bigger way for executives and entrepreneurs navigating careers - not as something separate from life but as something that is very much part of your actual life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The burnout, the self-doubt, the wondering if you're doing enough at work and at home, the uncertainty over how to approach a conversation with your boss, or how to navigate leading an online team. It's all part of life and it all impacts your well-being.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
More to come on this (make sure you’re on my newsletter) and I’m wondering -

What are your thoughts?

How does work show up in your life?

Where are my fellow holiday hustlers?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You know, you're making lists, booking tickets to zoo lights, thinking about all the things you want to do to fill the season with epic levels of magic... Or maybe it's not November 1 that does it for you, so you're waiting until December 1 to order the holiday cards and hit, "add to cart," on all the items and then praying they'll ship in time so you don't have to explain how the global pandemic has impacted the supply chain and the jolly fella's sled.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don't know about you but all that hustling leads me straight to burnout and resentment and guess what? There's not much left in the tank after the whole parenting during a multi-year pandemic thing so this year I'm prioritizing what matters most and making the energy count, where it counts and I'm hoping to help you do the same.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm thrilled to be leading a Holidays Without the Hustle virtual workshop tomorrow; I intentionally keep these small so we can really chat. But in keeping things small, that means some people can't join who maybe would really like to join.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With that said, I'll be sending the written workbook to my newsletter early next week. Will it be as good as joining in person? I don't know. Maybe, maybe not, but it's better than nothing so hop on my newsletter at the link in bio or send me a DM with your name and email address.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, friends.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lots of love to the amazing for capturing this very real life family photo.

I'm thinking about making this into an actual mug because don’t we all need this reminder?!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lower the bar.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As in, how can you lower the bar?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This was part of our discussion in 10x REAL group today.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We're collectively under so much pressure, and you're likely very hard on yourself because who isn’t? So it's more helpful to remember to lower the bar than to raise it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Also, a high bar is not only exhausting it’s also the enemy of current and recovering perfectionists because it means if we can't do something perfectly or to our high standards we do nothing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(Example shared today in 10x REAL group: I don't ride the Peloton because I've set the bar too high so this week I'll put on the shoes and sit on the bike instead of telling myself I need to do a 45 minute ride twice a day).

Many thanks to my Wednesday 10x REAL group for inspiring this post and possibly my new coffee mug?! 🙏 ☕️
