My friend and great composer, Nancy Bloomer Deussen, wrote this amazing piece - American Hymn. I helped her make this video in 2009, using photos she and her husband, Gary had taken on trips around the US. I looked the video up last night, just to make sure it was still up on the web, and was surprised to find that the performance had been done by the Kiev Philharmonic. Nancy passed away in Nov. 2019 at the age of 88, and remained an active composer right till her last days. Those of you who knew her, PLEASE keep her memory alive.

Just a reminder, our NACUSAsf concert is happening this weekend on Sunday, Feb. 11, 3 pm at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Belmont. On the program are some wonderful compositions by seven of our composer members. The instrumentation is strings, piano, clarinet, alto sax and double bass (which I am playing). I am looking forward to hearing my "Elegy for Cello" performed by Doug Machiz. Tickets ($15-$20) will be available at the door.
