So much fun at the Santee Community Posada! Thank you Project Hope, Educare California at Silicon Valley, and the McLaughlin Area Tenants Neighborhood Association!
"If I didn't bring my daughter [to Educare] at the time that I did, I don't think her learning would be as great and big as it is now because I have always believed in early learning," says Idania, an Educare parent.

Educare schools are more than early childhood centers. They’re family centers, too. See how Educare California at Silicon Valley has helped Idania support her children and grow healthy relationships with them: https://bit.ly/3yu274V
Over the last few weeks we have been partnering with Educare California at Silicon Valley to help serve over 20 families with fresh and local produce from our partner famers.

Many of the mothers who have picked out fruits and veggies from the farmstand have shared that they are using the produce to introduce new and exciting fruits and vegetables to their kids’ plates, and most importantly, the kids have started to love them.

Now that the families have become accustomed to the weekly Tuesday farm stand. Several of the mothers encourage their children to independently choose the food from the stand!

Thank you to Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors for the support of this partnership!
On Saturday, QUALITY MATTERS child care providers received personal protective equipment during distributions at the Adelante, Ben Painter, and Educare California at Silicon Valley Family Resource Centers throughout Santa Clara County.

Through donations from First 5 California, providers received gloves and cleaning supplies to make sure their child care centers and classrooms are clean and safe. Adult and youth face coverings were also provided so providers and young children can be protected as they learn and grow together.
TAKE ACTION: Join members of the REAL coalition TODAY Tuesday August 31 at the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors meeting to advocate for $140 million for those most affected by the pandemic.

What a fun surprise to get this beautiful thank you card in the mail from Educare California at Silicon Valley! We are so proud to be part of the effort to raise over $50,000 to support services for children and families—congrats again!
For families like Thi and Mason’s, Educare California at Silicon Valley is like a second home — creating a sense of belonging and providing families and children with the educational support and life resources they need. #TeamMoonsail is proud to support effective, bilingual early learning — and you can, too!
A drive-thru flu shot clinic was recently held at the Educare California at Silicon Valley Family Resource Center for over 60 community members, parents/caregivers, and their children. Free flu shots were available to anyone over the age of three. Guests also received hand sanitizer, reusable masks, and resources. This event was made possible by Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County and Anthem Blue Cross. Together, we can work to prevent the spread of the flu!
Today we’re highlighting another #FRCHero! Rosalia is the FRC Supervisor at the Educare FRC in San Jose and was nominated by Sona. Rosalia has also been making masks for community workers, parents, and more! 👏

"It gives me great pleasure to bring you Rosalia, our wonderful supervisor from Educare FRC. Rosalia loves to sew and provide a community service. Driven by her passion, she started a small project to sew face masks for one of the Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County's COVID-19 emergency response teams. They were in urgent need of face masks, and she provided. By each passing day, the project got bigger. She addressed the needs, shortage, demand, and started devoting her downtime to sewing masks. Since March, she has been sewing masks for different teams at CCSCC, volunteers, kids, and families. She has sewed more than 750 face masks to date. All masks were made as per the Public Health Department and CDC guidelines. We are very proud of her, and she is one of the heroes in the community. Her contribution, time, and thoughtfulness are her assets and ours. Kind-hearted people like her make the community a better place to live in. Thank you, Rosalia, for all your hard work and dedication.”

We've all felt the impact of the continuing pandemic this year, but some have felt it more than others. Lizeth’s family, like so many of the families we serve, has been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, experiencing economic hardship, in addition to social, emotional, and health stresses. Educare, through the early learning center and Family Resource Center, has supported Lizeth and her family through these challenges.

Your support will allow Educare to be there for families experiencing overwhelming challenges due to the pandemic. We are committed to providing children with the highest quality early learning environment regardless of their parents’ resources. Over the past few months, our children have been fascinated with all things leaves. When the education staff at the Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose heard about this, they curated an "unbe-leaf-ably" fun and interactive experience for our children, families, and staff!

Thank you to our partners at FIRST 5 Santa Clara County for funding the opportunity and thank you to the Children's Discovery Museum for Zooming into our classrooms, family resource center, and children's homes to share a Lois Ehlert's Leaf Man-inspired exploration workshop!

Recent research suggests that fine motor skills are so important that they are connected to how a child learns to read, completes math skills, and other higher-level cognitive thinking. Here's an example of our children using open-ended learning materials, like playdough, to strengthen their fine motor skills.

When faced with an investigation by Child Protective Services (CPS), many families do not have the support they need to address challenges in the home or access to legal advice before a court case is opened to help them navigate the system.

The First Call for Families team provides free legal assistance, community resources, and peer support, to prevent removals by CPS and keep children in the home with their families.
