Let’s hone in.

How is your body feeling?

It's been over a year and a half of closures, sheltering, reopening, and repeat for so many of us. In San Francisco, reopening has brought a wave of bustle and movement back into the city. But with it, a new wave of challenges as well. The increase of physical activity has only heightened the imbalances we may have developed after months of being at home. If you’re struggling to bring your body back into balance, our PT’s and trainers are here to guide you back and get you thriving. Performing artist or no, we’d love to help you in-person or via Zoom!

TRUTH!

Lots - if not most - of what dancers are told about their bodies comes on a wave of misinformation from unqualified sources, usually with a position in power or highly influential.
.
The way the dancers then try to mold their body into their teachers’/directors’ idea of it is frequently a waste of time, a breeding ground for an unhealthy relationship with food, and a recipe for life-long repercussions, affecting physical as well as mental health.
.
What is sold as the ’ballet body ideal’ is too often based on restriction with no respect for health. A healthy dancer though not only dances much better, they can also access their emotions much better. And that’s what makes the dancers feel best - and what we as audiences want to see.
.
The irony in all of this is that the thin body, achieved through restriction is weaker, and often stores more body fat than the lean, well-trained and well-nourished body. End of story: You can be healthy, happy, and look the part. You can have a life. You deserve to have a life. A happy one.

We will have a KN95 mask waiting for you upon your arrival if you are not already wearing your own (which you should be). Stay safe and mask on out there! If you have not been vaccinated yet, Delta may kill you, so I think it's a REALLY good idea to get that done right away. ❤
