What a joyful smile from Kamuhangire! 🥰 Thank you to each of our 4 supporters who helped raise $230 to fund his #hernia repair surgery. We are so blessed to have a strong community like you who ensure that the world is a healthier place to live in for all. We're hopeful that now that he's had surgery, Kamuhangire will live more comfortably and confidently.

Here's a little more about Kamuhangire's story -
Kamuhangire is an elderly man from Uganda who is still active as a farmer. His daily routine is to wake up early in the morning, do farming to earn a bit of income and, after work, he likes to sit at home while listening to the radio. His wife is also a small scale farmer and together they care for their three grandchildren. Due to education not being highly valued during his generation, Kamuhangire shared he only completed up to primary four as a student.

Fund Srey Pin's healthcare on Watsi

In June 2021, Srey Pin, an 18-month-old baby girl from Cambodia, was accidentally burned by a car engine on both of her palms. After the accident, her mother took her to a local hospital where she was given medication. However, burn scar contractures have developed, tightening the skin around her burns. It is difficult for her to use her hand and her motor skill development has been delayed.

When Srey Pin’s family learned about our medical partner, @CambodiaCSC, they traveled for two hours seeking treatment. Together our community is raising $477 to fund her care. Srey Pin's parents shared that they hope that her hand will be better and she will be able to use it as she grows.

If you can give as little as $5 toward the cost of her treatment, 100% will go to her care. You'll also receive an update on how she is doing over email 💌. Hoping you would join in today or share her story so someone in your network might help too.

We loved this story today, seeing how outwardly excited Jane was to have received treatment and be on the road to recovery! Sharing a short update from our medical partner in Kenya and hope it brightens up your Monday like it did for us ☀️

"Jane had a successful fracture repair surgery. She recovered well after surgery and her happiness was visible. On the day she was informed that she was fit for discharge, Jane immediately woke up and changed into her home clothes, showing how excited she was."

Jane is a 35-year-old farmer & a single mother of two. Earlier this month, Jane was working and going through her daily activities when she slipped and fell, sustaining a fractured clavicle on her right side. Fortunately, surgeons from our medical partner African Mission Healthcare intervened at the right time with a fracture repair procedure. Now, our community is helping raise $1,049 to fund Jane's procedure. Can you help with the last $29 to fully fund her treatment? You can learn more about Jane and read her story here - https://bit.ly/3l7W7df

It was one of our most joyful recent conversations and we're excited to share it. Hear about Watsi's roots on a rural bus ride 🚌 in Central America, learn what Nat calls her "Monday morning slam dunk," and see what's inspiring us about kids changing the world. We hope you'll take a moment to check it out 👀

From all of us at Watsi, thank you for all you're doing to help build a healthier, brighter world!

Nothing beats starting your day (especially Mondays!) on Watsi and sharing as little as $5 to help give a good & healthy life to someone who needs it the most. We want you to meet Eh Eh today:

Eh Eh is a 24-year-old woman who lives with her husband, daughter, sister, and parents in a refugee camp in northern #Thailand. Eh Eh works for the Camp Information Team and earns 1,000 baht (approx. $30.33 USD) per month. Eh Eh's parents are retired, and her sister is in school in grade 11.

Eh Eh is expecting a baby and her doctor has let her know that she needs a #CSection to deliver safely. Thankfully Eh Eh was referred to our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, for assistance accessing the treatment she needs.

Although Eh Eh feels well physically, she has mixed emotions about the surgery. She is worried and scared about undergoing the operation but she is excited to meet her baby. She shared: “I can cope with the worry because I have experienced this before, and because my husband will take care of me,” she said. “I just really hope that my operation will go well, and that my baby will be safe.”

Will you join us today in ensuring Eh Eh gets the care she deserves? 100% of your donation will fund a safe delivery for her and her baby. We invite you to join in to directly support her care and we can't wait to share good news with you soon 💙

Help us share Leakhen’s story this week ⤵️ and support her surgery.🙏
This simple act of kindness can help Leakhen to be healthy again and get back to studying hard to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher.

Leakhen is a curious & playful 12-year-old who lives with her brother and parents, who are rainy day farmers. Leakhen was born with #congenitalscoliosis.

Congenital scoliosis is the presence of abnormal curvature of the spine. The curvature causes the spinal column to bend left or right. Leakhen is not able to stand up straight or expand her lungs, which causes her frequent fatigue and chronic pain. Because of the stress that scoliosis places on the vital organs of adolescents and their ability to grow, active treatment is required. If not corrected, she could experience progressive weakness, numbness, or a loss of coordination. Leakhen is embarrassed to go places because of her condition. She has had two previous surgical procedures, and surgeons have determined that she needs a revision of her spinal rod to help her heal.

Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is raising $1,500 to cover the total cost of her spinal surgery. We’re halfway there, can you step in to help us deliver the care she deserves? 100% of your donation will fund her healthcare and you will receive updates from us about her treatment.

Karungi’s procedure was a success! She underwent a successful hysterectomy to treat multiple uterine myomas and she no longer is in pain or at risk of the myomas becoming cancerous. She hopes to completely recover from surgery within a few days and to resume teaching once she is fully recovered.
Imagine how much $219 meant to her and her family.

We're excited to share that our medical partner in Haiti has just been able to resume surgeries. We have 4 sweet kiddos undergoing heart surgery this week ❤️ Here's Emie, a three-yr-old who lives in a small city on Haiti’s northeastern border with the Dominican Republic. She enjoys listening to music and going to church with her family. Emie was born with a condition called patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), in which blood leaks between the major artery and vein connected to the heart. This has led to heart failure, leaving Emie feeling sick and short of breath.

Fortunately, our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, is helping Emie to receive treatment. Now, Emie’s family needs help to raise $1,500 towards her procedure and care. We are only short $636 to help her get a fresh start on a big beautiful life for this sweet girl. Can you join in or share her story so that someone you know might also help?

100% of your donation funds her treatment and you'll receive an update on how she is doing after surgery. Let's do our best to ensure she gets the care she deserves. 💙
