501c3 nonprofit rescue for miniature horses, donkeys, & mules that has saved 275+ animals since 2019

We wanted to pop-in for a minute and share a story and hopefully help a good friend. If you’ve rescued with Little Hooves Rescue, there’s a 95% chance that Jenni hauled your mini, horse or donkey to us cross-country. She was the only person we ever trusted to take care of our animals on that long journey from Oklahoma. What you may not know, is that she also runs her own rescue, Hearts for Hope Horse Haven, that has saved hundreds of horses from slaughter and does amazing work with veterans. In fact a few of our harder to place horses like Dakota & Fallon or Tank, the mini with breathing issues, ended up calling her sanctuary in the Arizona mountains home. Earlier this year Jenni was diagnosed with a very rare cancer which resulted in needing her left lung removed. The surgery was extensive and her road to recovery is long. She primarily hauled horses each month to cover their rescue expenses and now, being out of work, needs a little help. We are asking one last time to donate to someone who was undeniably crucial to us operating Little Hooves and saving as many animals as we did. Jenni is part of our family now and even made sure she could haul my personal horses to Florida for me before scheduling her surgery. She always puts the people and animals she cares about first. If you have anything to donate, it would mean the world for a team that is under a lot of stress right now ❤️ Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Please share!! We thought we had a plan for Dallas, but it seems to have fallen through 😭 Available for adoption: Dallas was one of our orphaned reservation foals that were at the Bowie Kill Pen along with about 15 others. Now a yearling, Dallas has been learning the ropes and hanging out with his foster family. He’s been handled by kids, been around livestock & dogs, and ready to begin more ground work in preparation for being ridden down the road. Dallas will most likely mature around 14h. He has been living with other horses as well. Currently located in Vista, CA. Adoption fee applies, please contact us for more information!

Ginger living her best life. She lives right down the street from our barn and it’s always so fun seeing her when we go out on trails!

A lot of love is going to be surrounding these two as they left for their new home today ❤️

It is with a heavy heart, I reach out to you all today to announce that Little Hooves Rescue will be closing its doors at the end of the 2023 for the foreseeable future. As many of you many know, this organization is run primarily by myself, Savanah, with the help of some amazing people. I have gotten the chance to follow my heart and accept a new opportunity that will relocate us to the east coast for the next few years. With that said, after many long discussions and serious consideration, it was determined the best course moving forward would be to close the rescue at this time as well.

You have probably noticed we haven’t been taking in as many horses, which was intentional as we figured out what our future was going to be. Our primary goal lately has been, and still is, to find homes for our few remaining horses. Currently we have placed all our minis and only have a few full sized horses remaining for adoption. There have been a lot of moving pieces as we get things settled so I will follow up with which animals are still available in the next week or so.

For the time being, I want to keep it simple and just say thank you. Thank you to this community that has supported us in ways I never could have imagined. Thank you to all our incredible rescue partners, fosters, adopters, vets, farriers, and volunteers that have made this all possible. I never would have thought we would have rescued over 350 animals in just over 4 years. It was a whirlwind and an emotional rollercoaster, but at the end of the day, a journey I will always be grateful for.

I will share more as we wind down, but for now, thank you. Truly.

Chili got to go to his new home today with one of our amazing volunteers! He’s almost unrecognizable from his early photos. His new mom , Amy, fell in love with him during her time at Little Hooves and hopes to share that joy even further by using him for therapy work at a senior home. We sure will miss having his spunky personality at the barn!

Currently living in a herd like environment and has been around chickens, goats, dogs, minis, and children. Very friendly and easy going. She is on a pelleted diet, but no other health concerns.
