Beyond Measure Alterations

Hey, all! If I'm a little pokey getting messages back this week, I'm traveling to take my daughter to her exciting new position in Oregon. The signal out here in the wild, wild West is not great... But the scenery makes up for it! 🖼️

Big Congratulations to Chelsie and Levi!! What a perfect day for a perfect couple. And a gorgeous Bride!! I had the most fun with Cheslie, who was most gracious, funny, and kind!

This is a great example of why I need to start remembering before and after photos. She had a beautiful vision for the final dress and it was an honor to help get her there for her beachy wedding in Florida.

This alteration included shortening the bodice, taking in the sides of the bust, adding bust darts, altering shoulders, adding boning through the bodice, removing mesh from the neckline- both front and back, replacing appliques, and hemming.

When it's EASTER, but it's also Prom Season and the work won't wait. ❤️ This is the one blind hand hem I have this year, so taking care of it at home seemed like a good idea. 🪡 This hem has a little extra love in it because I got to stitch it with my family around!

Spring Weddings, Prom Season, PIRATES OF PENZANCE at Theatre Salina, and Dance/Twirling Competition Season mean lots of late nights and weekends... But nothing can change my mind. I'm the luckiest. Thank you for having me as part of such special moments.

I'm seeing a few Prom TRENDS from those who have had their fittings or sent photos. So you know I had to go do a bit of research to see if what I'm seeing is a 2026 trend everywhere. Here's what I'm finding in my reading:
* SPARKLE!!! Beads, sequins, glitter, and metallic details to shine in the spotlight and on the dancefloor
* As was a trend in 2025- Structured bodices are BACK!!
* Basque Waist Dresses- bodices with a V-line to make you look longer and smaller
* Tiered Ruffle Skirts and BIG structured Ballgowns
* Moderate slits- the waist high slits are mostly gone and gowns are showing out with more dynamic and intentional slits with interesting eye-lines.
* PRINTS! Whether it's Floral Print or a design made with sequins and beads- fabric with detail is everywhere this Season.

And here's what I think.... I love all of these *TRENDS* -- I also LOVE when my Prom Girls feel BEAUTIFUL and UNIQUE in whatever they have chosen. Be you, be comfortable- and make the BEST memories you can!
