When life gives you crab...
Actually it was a dear friend who took a field trip out to the coast to find some. Lucky us! 🦀

Such pretty paper whites.
Along with today’s sunshine, another welcome antidote to the winter’s gray.
Thank you 😘

Last night’s perfect and delicious dinner. The recipe came from a book one of my sweet son’s gave me for Christmas - “Big Love Cooking.” The name utterly resonates with me, because we all know the best food comes from a place of Big Love! The book was found at one of our local purveyors of perfect things ♥️
This is Salad Dressing Chicken with Escarole (or in this case Romaine) and White Beans - light and simple but still so satisfying.
The author of the book is Chef Joey Campanaro of Little Owl Restaurant in Greenwich Village, a spot I will surely be checking out on my next trip to NYC, whenever that may be!

A sunny day here in the Willamette Valley to end an amazing - but not at all surprising - week.
While our capital was in uproar and our President and his followers were carrying out a seditious and violent conspiracy, the result of which amounted to domestic terrorism and at least two deaths, I was over here on the opposite coast trying to focus on starting the year with some productive work on projects that are important to me. I was moderately successful.
Meanwhile I thought I’d share one of my talented girl’s latest works with you. This one I commissioned her to do as our winery holiday card. An illustration of the hope we have for being able to gather around the table with friends and loved ones again sometime this year. I never knew how much I would miss it.
I absolutely love how this painting turned out and I’m holding it up as a beacon. Better and brighter days are ahead, friends. I’ll see you there ✨☀️

Classic Coq Au Vin, as irreplaceable as a cashmere sweater or a black dress. Classic for a reason - because it’s always right and, in this case, always delicious. It’ll never let you down. Why not make it this weekend!?

Since I wasn’t quite ready to give up on the festive weekend, I was glad I had some previously made Duck Confit in the fridge just waiting for a special, yet still cozy, Sunday dinner last night.
Thank you Drake Farms for the Duck and Melissa Clark for the perfect Instant Pot recipe.
Bonus points for the potatoes roasted in duck fat 🙌🏻
Now it’s time for a green smoothie for breakfast - I’m all about balance 😊

I need a distraction right at this moment, so let’s talk about food!
Last night I made this Pasta with Turkish Style Lamb and Eggplant with Yogurt Sauce. It’s a slight variation of a vintage recipe I loved years ago. Turns out I still love it. It’s the perfect balance of comfort and style. So good that I sent it to my Wine Club members this fall. A lovely match with many of our Pinots.
Watch the Story at to see the step by step and grab the recipe for yourself.
Cheers, friends🍷Keep the faith!
