We had time to kill, creativity flowing through our veins, and not a lot of cash in our pockets. So we paid a visit to ArtStart / ArtScraps in St. Paul. This 501c(3) reuse scrap store is only open Thursday through Saturday but if you have clever kids who love the art of making, you will want to find the time in your schedule to go!

Buttons, zippers, fabric, ribbons, beads, stamps, papers, rocks, shells, tins, marbles and an unimaginable amount more. Have fun, shop hard, and settle in for hours and hours of crafty fun!
Thank you QCTV for capturing the fun at Anoka Winterfest last weekend! Thank you to all that came to enjoy winter recreation in Anoka. Plus, a BIG THANK YOU to all of our partners - Anoka Women of Today, Rum River Art Center, Mauer Main Chevrolet, ArtStart / ArtScraps, Martha Chapter #132 OES, Pinewski's Ski and Board Shop, Anoka County Parks, Anoka's Waste Reduction & Recycling Board, and the many student volunteers from Anoka High School!
Great to see so many people out on Grand Avenue this morning!

We ran errands this morning with stops at , ArtStart / ArtScraps (awesome bead event going on and lots of Christmas decorating supplies), and .

Picked up takeout to enjoy at home as we met up after everyone’s morning activities. Easy to place an order online.

Have you tried their take and bake pizzas? Great take out option. They cooked up with perfectly crisp crusts with only 10 minutes in the oven. We had one Pesto and one Barbecue Chicken Potato Pizza. Delish!

Also tried the pumpkin wild rice soup, which has a great spice palate.

Have you tried their pistachio pesto? It’s quite delightful. We also enjoyed it on their turkey sandwich along with cucumber and spinach.

Added in one salad sampler with today’s grain, fish, and vegetable options.

It was a lunch feast!

Time to take on the afternoon to do list…

Eat well. Eat local!

When I started writing the description for this still life class at ArtStart / ArtScraps I thought about how different my practice and materials looked once school moved online. I like the idea of objects telling our story. You still have time to sign up for this class (and create a still life that tells YOUR story). It starts next Monday and Artstart shared a discount code with me yesterday so you can sign up at 20 % off by using the code Creativity2020 . I’m posting the link for registration in the comments.
Fantastic story about ArtStart / ArtScraps creating and distributing 75 art kits and an online program to keep teaching kids about the art and science of birds of the Mississippi River Flyway (via the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge) even as the pandemic hit.
