Calico Rock Farm - Registered Dorpers
Breeding registered Dorpers that adhere to the South African standards, and fulfill the demands of t

Wow! We've been MIA on our page for a while š¬ BUT we've got a GOOD reason! We'd like to introduce the newest member of CRF- our son, Kip Scott Price! We are so excited for this new chapter and to watch him grow up on the farm! Heās already learning the evening chore routine š„°
If you're new to our page we are Hannah (Rutledge) and Scott Price. Together we have combined experience in sheep, goats, hogs, and dairy. The main focus in our operation is producing a quality product for our customers! When we arenāt working livestock, you can find us making hay during the summer, cutting/splitting and delivering firewood in the fall, or just hanging out with our little Shepard!
Contact us anytime if you have questions, or just want to chat about farming!
Also pictured is a stout little ram lamb who also happens to be our 100th Fullblood Dorper lamb born on 11/28. This one will be fun to watch!

A May born ewe sired by CRF 26 āMackā. Be on the look out for more of Mackās lambs this spring!

That pregnancy glow. Fall lambing is in the air!

Sold.
We have decided to sell our Riverwood ram RF6820 āChanceā. He is sired by Riverwoodās RF6235 ram who was the 2016 NAILE Champion. He will be 3 in September. We have retained a son, CRF 26, and several daughters that are doing very well for us, and we feel itās time he made a difference for someone else. He has been on pasture since early May but is still in great condition for fall breeding. Saint Paris, Ohio 43072. PM for further information.

We wanted to take a moment and thank all of our spring customers. We had several ewes and a couple rams make their way to first time Dorper buyers! We thank you for trusting in our genetics. We are currently sold out of ewes, but should have a few rams available late this summer.
The majority of our current ewes like BBV G824 here are bred and will be due mid-October. We are looking forward to seeing more lambs out of own bred Mack, Riverwoodās Chance, and especially the new guy, Twin Ridgesā Trip!

A few spring lambs, this time sired by CRF 26 āMackā.

First night of pasture rotations is in the books!
āTripā heard it was Easter and decided to break out the bunny hops!

One of our foundation ewes G843 is building herself a nice portfolio. 2 working rams CRF09 and CRF26. CRF26 āMackā we kept for our own use and are expecting his lambs this April. Her recent January ewe CRF38 has earned the nickname ā.38 Specialā she was 70 # at 73 days old.

Thank you Brandon and LeAnn Winters at Twin Ridges - Registered Dorper Sheep for letting us spend a few hours touring your farm and sorting through a large group of excellent quality rams. It was hard to pick just one! Go follow their farm page, you wonāt be disappointed. They are great people with great sheep! āTripā made it home safe and sound. At 5 months old he is a tank. Weāll be posting more on this guy in the coming months, stay tuned!
As winter lambing wraps up we thought weād take a moment to showcase our hardworking LGD Ellie. She never skips a beat and is always on guard. Weāre thankful for her strong instincts that serve as protection for the girls 24/7.

Merry Christmas to all, and best wishes for the New Year!

Some of our fall ewe lambs ranging 75-90 days old. Impressed with their growth since they were a challenging group to keep on creep feed, as they refused to come in from the field most days!

A few fall pictures around the farm. The early spring lambs and new fall lambs have access to the barn for evening grain. While āChanceāsā group with January bred ewes will remain on 100% pasture until the weather breaks. They donāt seem to mind though!

Lots of excitement happening around the farm lately! We are building a new barn, expanding our dry lot, and the real fun: fall lambing began this week!

March ram lambs alongside their sire. Our border collie in training loves to supervise their every move!

Some of the ewes grazing in the evening sun tonight āļø
Happy sheep! After 34 days rotating pastures, the girls will enjoy about a week of clearing out shaded wood lots around the farm. After which weāll bring them up to the dry lot for a hands on wellness check before moving them back out to the first field!

We made a goal this year to increase the management of our pastures. Although we still have a lot of improvements to make, it was exciting to see the girls head to the last field rotation on day 33.
A rare storm rolling in from the East brought a nice touch of cool weather this evening as well!

We would like to thank Efren Ruiz who has patiently waited for our March rams to be ready for viewing. Thank you for trusting in our genetics as you begin your journey with Dorpers! We think youāre going to have a lot of fun watching this guy continue to grow and mature!
We love seeing the resemblance of āChanceā passed down to his offspring. We wish you all the best with CRF 28!

RF 6820 āChanceā enjoying green pastures and some quality time with his lady friends. Looking forward to seeing more of his lambs hit the ground this fall!

Happy Motherās Day to all the wonderful, amazing mommas out there. š - And to all our beautiful ewes that keep our little flock growing.ā¤ļø

Welcome to Calico Rock Farm! We have been raising sheep since 2009 when we first began breeding commercial hamp/Suffolk crosses. In 2018 we made the transition to registered Dorpers after falling in love with the breed. We purchased 21 full blood registered ewes from a wonderful farm, Blue Bird Valley in Ohio, and 1 Ram from Willowcreek Farm in Michigan. Since then we have continued growing and making tough selections. Our main focus points are: Strong masculine rams, maternal and prolific ewes, and vigorous; thrifty lambs. We strive to follow the South African standards for the breed, with an added emphasis on all terrain hooves. We believe we can offer something to both the seedstock breeder and commercial producer alike. Feel free to message us with any and all questions or inquires. Weād love to talk Dorper with you!
