What is the #CalVaxGrant?

The #CalVaxGrant reimburses eligible medical practices, independent pharmacies, student vaccine clinics (including student health centers, university health centers and K-12 schools), home health agencies and skilled nursing facilities up to $55,000 for becoming community COVID-19 vaccination sites.

Approximately $35 million is available, and funding is on a first come, first-served basis, so early submission is encouraged. The application cycle has been extended until December 17, 2021, or until all funds are disbursed, to allow CalVaxGrant applicants more time to begin and/or complete the myCAvax process. All organizations must be enrolled in myCAvax to receive a CalVaxGrant.

California Dept. of Public Health makes push to get vaccines in hands of primary care doctors

Right now, most primary care doctors are not set up to readily offer COVID-19 vaccines directly to patients.

"It is much easier to call your general provider and make that appointment," said program director Katie Ramsey. "The goal of #CalVaxGrant is to support physicians through this process with all the training and equipment they need. There's a lot of things that need to be in line in order to be ready to start vaccinating."
