CenterPeace provides a place to belong, building spiritual community among LGBTQ+ Christians. CenterPeace hosts a national conference every other year.
In addition, we offer regional retreats known as PeacePrints for parents, and Peacemaker seminars for church leaders. We also host spiritual formation weekend retreats, called Tapestry, for LGBTQ individuals seeking a safe place to ask questions, to find compassion and empathy, and a greater sense of peace in resolving the conflict between faith and sexuality that so many of us feel.
CenterPeace has been providing resources for parents of LGBTQ children for 20 years. In addition to breakouts specifically for parents at the main event, we offer a post-conference workshop just for moms and dads! Our conference theme this year is More, taken from Ephesians 3:18-21. This year’s conference will amplify the voices of LGBTQ Christian leaders from across the country, some you’ll recognize and some who are new to this arena. And we’ll hear from a host of affirming allies, pastors, and parents, sharing their wisdom and experience in far more breakout sessions than you’ll have time to attend. But with every registration, you’ll get access to the videos to watch at home afterward!

At a beautiful ranch out in the middle of nowhere this past weekend, thirty of us gathered for a beautiful Tapestry retreat. Justin Lee brought his husband Michael, and served as our teacher for the weekend, focusing on “redeeming Scripture.” When the Bible has more often been used as a weapon against LGBTQ people, it’s crucial to spend time exploring all of the positive passages that speak directly about God’s never ending love for us and our place within the Body of Christ. It was beautiful to watch our very diverse group being turned on to the stories of the Bible that speak to our experience as LGBTQ Christians. And having Nathan and David leading us in worship was icing on the cake!
In addition to feeding our souls, Matt and Chris and Nathan took care of preparing meals and constant snacks for us. And Marisa made sure everything else happened!
After 15 years of Tapestry spiritual formation retreats, it doesn’t seem possible that they could get any better. But each one surprises us in the sweetest ways. Thank you, friends, for a most encouraging weekend!
