I'm excited to share that I was recently a guest on "A Time to Care: A Caregivers Podcast" with Isabel Melgarejo!

This week ten years ago, I took a leap into private practice in the greater Washington, DC area. It wasn’t my first choice—I always imagined myself in a full-time leadership role as a music therapist in senior living. But after finding myself in an unhealthy work environment, I quit with no plan, which is very unlike me.

I decided to give private practice a try, and it turned out to be exactly what I needed. I loved the autonomy to choose who I worked with and how I could support them. It expanded my skill set and set me on the path I’m on today.

Even after relocating to Austin and working for another company, I kept my private practice up to date working with several telehealth clients from DC, and eventually, it called me back.

Two years ago I rebranded as Harmony in Dementia, focusing on supporting the dementia community—caregivers, professionals, students, and those living with dementia. My goal is to create a safe and welcoming space for my clients where they can participate in meaningful music experiences and collaborate with others who share my vision.

The past 10 years have had their ups and downs, but I’m grateful for the opportunities to grow, learn, pivot, and adapt.
