Wonderful Day at the IHAD Dressage Show at Skye Acres.

Janice Washburn Meehan rode Julie Cannova's Dutch Warmblood Gelding, Tempo, at First Level, scoring 62%+ and placing 3rd. Score would have been a little higher but Tempo opted to display a quality flying change earning the comment "Lovely change, not required at this level". 🙂 He was wonderfully behaved and Janice rides him beautifully.

Janice also brought her own OTTB Gelding, Coach Fudge. "Coach" is new to dressage and can carry a bit of tension. We had a good lesson yesterday that paid forward to today. Janice and Coach won both their Intro classes, with scores to 68%+ - earning them the Intro Championship. I was so proud to see Janice use the techniques we worked on yesterday to help Coach built his confidence throughout the first test, then really show off his gaits in the second test.

Finally, fairly new client, Jennifer Visconti, rode her OTTB Gelding, Danny in Intro and Training Level classes, earning 64%+ in both classes, missing first place by just half a percentage point in the Intro test. Danny has a history of becoming very unsettled at these shows that are held at his home barn, and has proved quite difficult in competitions past. This was my first time assisting Jennifer through this worrying situation, and Danny absolutely took to the coaching and put in two very clean tests with no blow-ups. So very proud of how well Jennifer did!

It was great to see so many friendly and familiar faces and I cannot thank David enough for always being such a wonderful "Horse Show Hubby", which freed me to be the coach I needed to be today. Thank you to Shirley for the video of Tempo!

Congratulations to my friend and client Kimberly and her horse, Sinatra Style, in earning their first First Level score towards their USDF Bronze Medal and placing second in a six horse class.

Competing is still fresh for this duo and some of the balance found in the warm-up was occasionally lost in the test, but lots of highlights including a 7.5 for Gaits.

Style behaves like a perfect gentleman away from home, making going to shows about the riding, not about surviving. Well done, Kimberly!

Also (sorry no photo) Congratulations to Megan and Seydlitz H for putting in another Grand Prix Musical Freestyle. Alas, the music cut out halfway through, destroying a bit of the "flow", but Megan maintained her sense of humor and took advantage of extra "arena time". Thank you as well to Megan for coming back out to the show grounds to assist with Kimberley's ride, very helpful!

It was a beautiful day, Congratulations to ALL competitors! Finally, thank you to my hubby David for being Horse Show Husband extraordinaire - you made my life a lot easier today! XO

Congratulations to my long-time friend and client, Megan Zureck, and her horse "Sam", on winning the Long Island Dressage Association Year End Championships for Grand Prix, for BOTH Recognized and Schooling Shows!

Megan worked very hard to remain in training to achieve her USDF Gold Medal this year, in her first year at Grand Prix. The announcement of the first Year End Awards is icing on the cake! CONGRATULATIONS MEGAN!
