A place to showcase and occasionally sell some of the art I make -- fiber art, jewelry art, lapidary art, deliberate doodles, and whatever else I create.

Yarn De-stash 03/03/2018

Since all monitors are different, the colors you see might not be the colors I see.

All yarn is from a no-smoking home. Pets were not in contact with yarn — I put it in ziploc bags as soon as I received it.

Just a sample of some of the Christmas cards I'll be offering for sale this year. The metallic gold is pretty hard to photograph. They won't go up until it gets closer to Christmas, at least after Halloween.

The artwork on my uke is done. Many thanks to Kitten's friends for voting for their favorite design for me to use.

now it just needs its black strings and the interior label indicating this is a one-of-a-kind Infinite Kitten original design.

AUCTION for this hand-woven afghan begins now, with bidding closing Wednesday November 18th at midnight. Opening bid is $300.

Winner will receive this one-of-a-kind afghan made of 100% handspun yarn, woven into hundreds of patchwork squares. The dimensions are approx 48" X 80" -- just a bit narrower than the top of a double-bed.

The yarn I spun is a wide variety of wool and wool blends, all dyed by myself and other indie fiber artists. Fibers may include soft wools. some blended with mohair, angora, alpaca, silk, nylon "icicle", and "Angelina" (a sparkly soft man-mad fiber).

Feel free to share this post, but bids are only accepted as comments on this original post. Free US shipping. Payment through PayPal only. Closer detail photos are in the comments below.

My next project: decorating this plain Jane ukulele with some deliberate doodles.

Where YOU come in? I have 4 possible designs, and YOU will help decide which one goes on the uke. Each design will be in a separate comment to this post. All you need to do is "like" the one you like the best. After the voting is done, I'll select one random liker and will send you some sort of small art gift.

Please, select only ONE photo. Before I announce my random winner I'll be checking to make sure that person liked only 1 design. If they select more than 1 they will be disqualified from the giveaway.

I'll be closing down voting at midnight Friday Nov 13th (eastern US time).

Please feel free to share this post. The more the merrier!

Keep your eyes on this site for my upcoming auction for this woven throw!

The entire piece is done with hand-dyed fibers that I spun into yarn, wove into hundreds of 4" squares, then crocheted together with handspun yarn. Finished dimensions are approx 48" x 80" -- about the same size as the top of a twin bed.

Had a great class this morning. The powdered pigments we're using really need someone with an open mind, because the technique gets different results every time, unlike stamping or painting with a brush. Now I'm looking forward to a great class on Thursday morning.

I'm taking off until September so I have August to brainstorm. I can't believe I'm already thinking about what we could do cool for Christmas.

After taking June off from teaching at My Craft Room inTroy, I'm back for July. The cards this month will feature papers we'll be coloring with Color Burst pigment powders. This is a relatively new technique at the store, and of course I'll be throwing in some of my own twists. The tie-dye effects make my inner hippie sing.

Here's May's card class -- quick and easy Mother's Day (or ANY day) cards using Japanese washi paper, silk flowers, and metallic gold trim. I just need to add centers to the flowers

Those of you who know me will probably know how odd it is that there is NO drawing or doodles on these. None at all.

Had a class this morning. It's an odd combination of tired and wired. It's always energizing when I have students who really get it, and are willing to drop their beliefs that there's 2 ways to do things -- right or wrong. Zentangle is soooooooo not like that, especially in one of my classes.

Students for a different class were coming in when we were packing up, and they caught a glimpse of my samples for May. They're already asking to sign up!

Kitten is feeling pretty darn happy today.

I have my May card class figured out, and it's a first for me! No Zentangle. I know, I know, but they are going to be so pretty. I had a brainstorm when I was making a set of note cards for my dear step-Mamasan. There will be Japanese paper, silk flowers, ribbons and bows.

I'll post a pic when I have my samples done.
