!!!!!!!!
Course record at Capitolina for 2.3 miles is around 10:05. It is amazing what speeds a Canicross team can reach!
In one of the fastest and most unique performances in running, Ben Robinson and his dog Zuma clocked an incredible 11:56 for 5k, setting a world record in canicross. That’s an average pace of around 2:23 per kilometer — far quicker than most elite human-only efforts. 🐕
Canicross, a discipline where a runner is connected to a dog via a harness and elastic leash, allows for higher speeds thanks to the dog’s pulling power. The result is a perfectly synchronized effort, combining human endurance with canine strength and speed. 🔥

Meet Capitolina’s first sponsored athlete! I’m really excited about sharing the trail love with the next generation. He’ll be practicing with the Trail Rangers at the GE Trails and racing at Kingston Downs at the end of the season. It’s not too late to register your own junior - Trail Ranger programs are all over and our local program has open registration until March 20.

If you missed the Sandhills Dryland Challenge, you should definitely add it to your calendar next year! Probably the funnest course we’ve run in the south…turny, hilly, fast! Jessica Tomkoski and North Carolina Urban Mushing put on a fabulous race. Thanks for hosting us this weekend!!!!
