* Until 530 PM CDT.

* At 444 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Rolla, moving southeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD... 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE... Radar indicated.

IMPACT... Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Rolla, St. James, Doolittle, Newburg, Northwye, and Rosati.

This includes Interstate 44 between mile markers 177 and 179, and between mile markers 184 and 200.

Under RSMo 67.110, Missouri political subdivisions must present specific budget and assessed valuation data, hold a public hearing on proposed property tax rates, and fix their final ad valorem rates by September 1. (This is not a tax increase proposal)

Subject: Public Hearing and Ordinance Setting 2026 Tax Rate
Per RSMO 67.110

The Board is asked to consider the proposed item establishing the 2026 real estate tax levy for the Rolla Rural Fire Protection District. State Law requires that the tax rates be certified to the County Clerks by September 1. Due to the State time requirements, a first and final reading of the proposed item is requested.

Staff is recommending a motion to approve the 2026 tax rate of 0.8480.

Again this is a state mandated formality and not an increase. The public is welcome to attend.

This Missouri Department of Missouri Dept. of Conservation has notified us of a controlled burn at Little Prairie Lake off of RA Highway. This burn will be for today only.

Use caution in the area and smoke will be visible.

An EF-0 tornado with peak winds of 80 to 85 mph began along Homelife Plaza in Rolla and travelled south before lifting near Soest Road. Tree and building debris was laying in convergent patterns. Additional limbs were downed south of Soest Road, however it could not be determined as tornadic from that point on due to the lack of convergent damage. The tornado was on the ground for a total of 0.7 miles with a width of 200 yards and caused damage to trees and the roofs of several businesses.
