Today around noon the Stanley Valley Fire Department responded to the 1800 block of Longs Bend Rd for the report of a wildland fire with structures threatened. The Stanley Valley Fire Department responded immediately in Engine 1901. While responding Hawkins County E-911 advised that a small structure had ignited. A working fire was dispatched with a full structure response from Carter's Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Striggersville Volunteer Fire Department, Mount Carmel Fire Department, and Goshen Valley Volunteer Fire Department. Upon arrival it was found that a wind driven fire had burned around 2-3 acres with one structure fully involved. All units worked very diligently to extinguish the fire in the woods, grass, and out building. Also thank you to Hawkins County Sheriff's Office, Hawkins County Emergency Management Agency - Tennessee, Hawkins County EMS, and the Hawkins County Rescue Squad for their assistance as well. All unit cleared the scene with the property left in care of the homeowner.

AWESOME job as usual by our folks in the Striggersville Fire Department this morning on the explosion and fire on 70N.
They had that rascal down in no time.
Hope nobody was hurt. That gas explosion was bigtime and very concussive!

The Fire Service Is Bleeding

We have spent an amazing weekend with our "FIRE FAMILY"!!!!!! Instead of all the original dinners and such our department decided to change things up a little bit. So, this year all our members and family went in together and paid for a fun filled weekend. We have had a campout, bounce houses, bonfires, water activities, prepared all our meals, and just bonded as a group! We have still ran all our calls and had normal days! This has allowed us to bring our families together and grow with each other as a team! A group that is so close that grows with each other. We strive to make our department as family oriented that we can, and this weekend was well spent with our families at OUR Station. It was a huge success and we have all enjoyed our self at our home away from home. This is also a appreciation to our department.

The members and the family are cleaning today and enjoying the warm weather. We all may be volunteer but we love what we do! A little work here and there goes a long way. We love our station and our fire family!

A firefighter's definition does not only require fighting fire. They also put in time for everything else that has to be done. They also spend numerous hours at the station and devoting time away from home.

Update: The evacuation order is lifted except for the areas of Pole Cat K**b Road, Blakes Mountain Road, and Pat Gilliam Road in Rogersville per Hawkins County Emergency Management Agency - Tennessee

This is a message from Hawkins County 9 1 1. A forest fire has been reported in the area of your residence. If you live in the Henard road, Tuggle Hill, Pole Cat K**b area, Guntown road or Austin Mill area of Rogersville you are requested to evacuate your residence and go to a safe area. We will update as information becomes available. Hawkins County Rescue Squad has set up a shelter.
