Cutting clear acrylic from square to round.

Plastic is squishy, and it can be pushed and pulled out of the vise jaws pretty easily. A dovetail helps a lot when done properly. I use it a lot for clear acrylic parts.

When using randomly sized and shaped material, setting your work offset to the centerline is a good way to allow for the variation. If you set it to the corner, you might be offset more than you have room for.
This can also be a time saver for the saw op if you know you can have some variation. You can be less precise when sawing, saving time and effort. Let the CNC do its thing.

3D printing has been suck an awesome capability to add to my shop. It opens up possibilities and efficiencies otherwise unrealized.

Process Engineering is fascinating to me, and machining provides endless opportunities for this, and the results are immediately tangible. It’s a puzzle that needs to be solved, physically and mentally.
Few people know I actually went to University for Process Engineering after I completed my Technical degree in Machining and CAM programming. Yes, they had CAM back in the 80’s. 🤣🤣 But I dropped out after just a couple months because I knew that type of education was not for me. I wanted to get to work and actually start making money, not rack up another $80K in debt. And it was the best decision of my career.
I feel extremely grateful to have found the right career for me. I don’t think most people ever get to experience that. Like the old saying goes, do something you love and you’ll never work another day in your life. This isn’t work to me. It’s what I’d be doing even if I didn’t get paid. Which actually happens a little too often running your own business hahaha!

Every time I need to use these extensions, I am very glad I have them! They provide an otherwise very difficult solution.

This project has taken a LOT of effort to achieve successful results. The variables were really tricky to determine. And the length introduces another fun challenge all its own.
But like Grandma taught me, winners find a way.
