Oracle Rocklin Toastmasters

Wow! We were so well represented at last night's Area 63 International Speech Contest and Table topics contest! Rick Don (Speech) continued to elevate his 'game', delivering his speech, "The Big Picture", so wonderfully! Jennifer Oliver and Kevin Bender each delivered a great Table Topic message about looking "Through a Child's Eyes"! This was one of the best contests I have seen! Congratulations to all three, and an additional shout out to Jennifer for moving on to the Division F contest on April 27th via her 2nd Place finish!

As always, we had such a great turnout from our club to support our members! Jennifer, Lucia, Vivienne, Connie, Suzanna, Stacy, and Ethylene - your being there to support our three contestants undoubtedly meant a great deal to each of them!

Don't forget you have the opportunity to come out to the Area 63 International Speech and Table Topics contests this Friday evening! Come cheer on Rick Don (International Speech Contest) and Jennifer Oliver (Table Topics Contest) as they proudly represent our club! The contests are always a lot of fun to watch, even if you aren't competing, and you'll have the chance to see some very talented individuals from our neighbor clubs compete alongside Rick and Jennifer. It's always educational, as well! You'll have the added bonus of being able to say "I was there that magical night when Rick and Jennifer moved on the the Division F contest........"

The contests begin at 6:45 PM. This year, the contests are being held at the Hewlett Packard building, located at 8000 Foothills Blvd., Roseville, 95747. If you're interested in meeting at the Oracle parking lot at 6 PM, we can always caravan over Dave Dodds will be happy to meet at Oracle and folks can follow him over if anyone has not been there before, or is unsure of directions. We'll be leaving the parking lot at 6:05 PM, since volunteers and contestants have been asked to arrive at the HP facility by 6:15 PM.

Another round of awesome contests! Congratulations to our very own Rick Don for placing 1st in the International Speech Contest and to Jennifer Oliver for winning the Table Topics Contest.

Please join us tomorrow, Thursday, March 8th, for our club's annual Mock Table Topics contest! The contest will be held in lieu of our regular weekly meeting, from 1-2 PM. We meet at the Oracle building, 1001 Sunset Blvd., in Rocklin. We'll be meeting in Room 0136 tomorrow. This is always an entertaining contest, and all our our contestants are so accomplished at Table Topics! Join us for some fun!

Just a heads up, next Thursday, March 15th, we'll be holding our Mock International Speech Contest, AND an Open House! Bring a friend, come enjoy some light refreshments, and get to know our talented club members!!!

(Belated) Congratulations to Patty Mayden for earning her Competent Leader award, and to Earl Rush for achieving his Competent Communicator award! Two more of our stellar members hitting another milestone! Well done, Patty and Earl!

The Auburn Winter Storytelling Fest is happening Saturday, January 27, 2018!! There are workshops, contests, and activities for everyone! Please see the flyer below for more information!

The event is being held at the General Gomez Art & Event Center, 808 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603.

We had a fantastic Club Evaluation contest on Thursday, September 7th! Congratulations to Stacy Sheetz (3rd place), Marti Hicks (2nd place), and Jennifer Oliver (1st place)! They all did a fantastic job in evaluating our model speaker, Area 61 Director Brian Brubaker! Special thanks to Brian for visiting our club and participating in the contest! Please make plans to come out and root Jennifer on as she competes in the Area 63 contest on Friday, September 22!

Our Humorous Speech contest is this Thursday, September 14th, at 1 PM. I have no doubt this will be a wonderful, and entertaining, contest! Please try to come out and join us - we meet at 1 PM. The Oracle office is located at 1001 Sunset Blvd. in Rocklin! See you there!

Fall Contest season is officially here! Please join us this Thursday, September 7, for our club's Evaluation Contest. You'll hear some very talented club members deliver their evaluations of a model speech, and we'll determine who will represent Oracle Rocklin Toastmasters at the Are 63 contest (to be held on Friday, September 22)! Our club's Humorous speech contest will be held next Thursday, September 14, as well!!! Come out and join us - a good time will be had by all!
